Truss strikes me as another Cersai in "Game Of Thrones": Very good at plotting to get power, but tototally clueless and inept when she actually has it.

In summary then, to replace the ousted ****-show we have option 1: a ****-show, or option 2: another ****-show.

And the people that get to make that decision? The same ones that chose the outgoing ****-show in the first place.
Minus the more moderate ones who have since resigned from the Tory party in disgust.

Trade Union leader Mick Lynch has a better grasp of the economics of tax and corporation tax than the two candidates for leadership, judging by this BBC clip.

to RMT's Mick Lynch...

"Who would you prefer? Prime Minister Sunak or Prime Minister Truss?"

You can be right wing yet still have high taxes and an extensive welfare state in place.

One possible contributing factor to how the Conservative party may pick crap leaders.

A guy tested this.
So, not wanting to believe this loophole to choosing Britains next leader could possibly exist, I set my vpn to Ukraine, spoofed a name and address in Luhansk, pretended I’m under 26 and it’s straight through to accepting my £5 donation via PayPal. WTAF???

As Charles Stross worked out

Could be a foreign state; £5 per sock puppet per year (and a call centre so they can pass for human) would let the KGB choose the next UK Prime Minister.

£0.5M buys 100,000 memberships, or about 50% of the vote.

The infuriating thing about Tory corruption is how cheap they are!

Well, yes and no.

MPs get to pick the final two so the membership is just picking between the MPs favourites.

The argument would be more convincing if Tory leaders weren't so popular within the party.

Yes I'm unclear how big a factor it would be. I guess one missing factor is how much say these possible foreign actors would have in other issues : e.g. polling members for opinions on current issues etc. It's obviously a problem but its scale is unclear to me.

It's not really picking from the MPs favourites when the polling of their members tells them Rishi Sunak can't win against any of the other candidates, so they put him first. That's engineering the process to pick a winner and getting the members to ratify it. The MPs have chosen Liz Truss, so Liz Truss it will be. It's the electoral equivalent of a card force.

Just listened to the Welsh FM on PM* and he revealed that Johnson spoke to him the week Johnson decided to step down(ish) - which was the first time he had spoken to him for over a year!

*Deliberately used to confuse those bloody foreigners!

There’s a group called Conservatives Abroad

You can join for £25, You don’t need to be a British Citizen
If you join you get to vote and choose our next PM.

Membership of Conservatives Abroad is administered by the Cities of London & Westminster Conservative Association (CLWCA). By joining CLWCA as an overseas member, you become a member of the Conservative Party and of Conservatives Abroad. You are entitled to all the benefits of party membership, including participation in the Conservative Policy Forum, attendance at party conferences and a vote in the election of the party leader.

Meaning…

A non-British citizen living abroad has greater say over our next PM than you do

Sunak has said he would put the UK on a "crisis footing" on day one as PM

In The Times he said the country faced a national emergency, including on the economy, the NHS and migration.

Did I imagine it or did Sunak in some speech the other day make out that Darlington is in Scotland?

Does he even know where his own constituency, just south of Darlo, actually is?

I could well have imagined this, in the mayhem and stupidity which is coming from every angle in this **** show of a "leadership" contest.

Which is which, very hard to tell.
It is quite simple.

The idiot is the one who a month ago defended Johnson and now tries to distance themselves while at the same time copying him by having no coherent plan.
The clueless one is like Johnston in having no coherent plan yet tries to distance themselves from him despite defending him a month ago.

Hope that helps.
