The God Paradox

I don't think we can really claim to understand all of the mysteries of life. And if there is such a thing as a "God", we are probably still pretty far away from even a rudimentary understanding of such a being. After all, The Lord is supposed to work in mysterious ways.

So, I don't think that a bowel movement alone is enough to prove or disprove this concept of a "God".

Did this god of yours... that you do not understand anything about... create humans or not??? Can you at the very least say that about him??? ... and if so... Don't you think that the reality of human biology proves irrefutably that this god is an imbecilic inept incompetent designer (I3D) or a sordid SADIST or both?

Which (biblical) god are you talking about?

I am not talking about a biblical god... I am talking about YOUR god... did he create humans ... and if so... Don't you think that the reality of human biology proves irrefutably that your god is an imbecilic inept incompetent designer (I3D) or a sordid SADIST or both?

If there is/was a creator of sorts, I would suspect that there was a largely "hands-off" approach. Perhaps this "God" took a more macro-level approach to the challenge at hand.

How do you know the second part if the first part is true... if you do not understand ... how can you then make any assertions at all out of this lack of understanding... or are you just wishfully thinking and assuming things about what you yourself claim to not understand???

Besides... do you understand human biology... do you think this THING you call god and do not understand created humans???

Ah.... so now you do understand and know things about it... :sdl:

So he created a faulty process that resulted in all this misery and mayhem and strife and killing just to survive???

So this god you now know so much about ... did he create humans or not?? Directly or indirectly... is he the prime mover and necessary cause or not???

If so ... he is the primary cause for all bowel movements... no???

Oh, I am making no such claims. Clearly if such a being does exist, the human mind would be too feeble to fully understand the intent, process and motivations involved.

We would potentially be looking at a scenario where this "God" took action that resulted in the creation of the universe and all within it...and trying to understand it by pondering our own poop.

If you can imagine such a silly thing.

Is human biology the cause of all the misery and diseases and suffering and wars and killings and ravaging and torments of humans throughout their desultory existence as irrefragably proven by HISTORY... or not???

Did your THING's PLAN include the human biology that is the reality of this existence???

"Our own poop" is the result of your THING's PLAN... no??

Yet your ilk keep telling us exactly what he said and did and wants and desires and will do.

Does YOUR concept include that he created humans directly or indirectly and is the necessary cause and prime mover of everything... or not???

If so then he is the primary mover and causer of human biology as we have it in this reality... no??

Don't you think that the reality of human biology proves irrefutably that the necessary cause of it and prime mover of it is an imbecilic inept incompetent designer (I3D) or a sordid SADIST or both?

No you are not. You have created an evil god and tried to insinuate that I believe in this god.

Your skillful wily crafty beguiling evasion of ever answering a question must be a whole semester's class in seminary school.

I am asking about YOUR god... did your god create humanity or not??

I did not create YOUR bloody god... YOU DID... you defined it... does your definition of this god include that he created humans.

Humanity as it exists today and since it started to do so has a faulty pathetic biology that results in all sorts of calamity.

If YOUR GOD is the creator of humanity then he is the creator of this sordid biology... and thus ... don't you think that the reality of human biology proves irrefutably that YOUR GOD as you defined him the creator... is an imbecilic inept incompetent designer (I3D) or a sordid SADIST or both?

There is also this Paradox:

Atheist (proposing a universe where there is no god): The universe is an awesome place, filled with beauty and the wonders of nature!

And also:

Atheist (proposing a universe where there is a god): The universe is a terrible place, and nature is cruel, red in tooth and claw!

My shower thought: If a theist and an atheist were able to create a large nature reserve, I wonder how they would differ? Would one or both allow predators to feast on herbivores? Or just have herbivores only? Etc.

:jaw-dropp did you mean "theist"... which atheist proposes there is a god???

Why does there have to be VORES in the first place ... can't there be animals who get their energy from the sun's energy??? And if extra material is needed to be extracted from rocks and dirt???

This is not a paradox whatsoever... it is a FACT... both descriptions are true concurrently and are not paradoxical or contradictory.

My shower thought:

Don't you think that an engineer who designs a car that requires the blood and flesh of cockroaches to function is a cruel sordid monster??

Do you think the engineer who designs a car that can run on Solar Energy is a better and less grotesque a designer than the aforementioned one???

Which car do you prefer to buy and run???

Should we get rid of lions in the wild, in your opinion? Why should there be lions in the wild in the first place?

He is not alone. When religious beliefs stop making any sense and defy all logic there is no point to ponder it.

You don't need to be a skeptic to toss out trash.

Indeed.

I stopped wondering if there was a God when I got kicked out of Sunday School at about age 10 for asking awkward questions (questions that the Sunday School teacher couldn't answer). This set me on the path to unbelief and I reached the end of that path as a teenager.

I am now an Atheist in the narrowest sense - a "hard" atheist- I don't just disbelieve that gods exist, I reject the idea that any deities exist at all.

I think I might have misunderstood what you meant by CREATE... and your thought experiment.

My shower thought: If a theist and an atheist were able to create a large nature reserve, I wonder how they would differ? Would one or both allow predators to feast on herbivores? Or just have herbivores only? Etc.

Lions et al are already existing... and REALITY is reality ... the OP is about disproving A GOD CONCEPT that created the animals as they are (allegedly)... and how he is a monster who likes schadenfreude.

So nothing do with atheists or even theists creating nature reserves.

By the way:
An atheist who wants to create a nature reserve would do it exactly as is being done now all over the world where there are nature reserves ... using science and the knowledge we have to maintain the ECO SYSTEM.... and if a theist wants to do the same he would not start praying for his god to do it either.
