Why exactly do religions get the benefit of the doubt? Are there any other movements with such a horrible body count that get to have "good" adherents.

Yes. They tend to have so much worse body counts over relatively short periods that they don't last. Stalin's. Mao Zedong's. The very religiously tolerant Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan, that still managed to kill over 10% of the world's population.

Not one adherent of Christianity believes that Jesus was put to death because he superseded the Old Testament. Hmmm…

If I had to say which one of the many philosophies I was exposed to in my childhood most influences me to this day, I would have to say that is LaVeyan Satanism, lol. Like many philosophical systems, there’s a lot of truth in there mixed in with the BS.

It is not consistent with other parts of the bible that deal with the death and resurrection of Jesus but that doesn't matter. You are proving that you can make any conclusion from the bible that you want to.

How so pray tell... doesn't the New Tall tales say that the Sanhedrin arrested him and tried him and handed him over to the executioners and demanded he be executed post haste??? Do you have a different version you made up???

Yes indeed, that's basically the story. But Christians know the whole story: He actually was the Messiah. The Jewish authorities that put him on trial were acting out of ignorance.

But the whole damn thing is allegory. Made up stories to make some kind of point.

I think you are confusing threads... I suggest you read the thread's header... it is called The God Paradox.... this is not a thread about the turpitude that is called christianity.

You want to talk about the false prophet Jesus and how he was killed ... please start another thread... or you can address it in my other thread about his hoax.
