The point of the concentration on white shooters is the wish to excoriate whites/white supremacy 'cos racism.

White people are racist, black people are victims, **** white people. Mix in a heap of America is racist, cops are racist and Republicans are racist and you have a very common sentiment of today's left.
 
Black people are the real racists, white people are disproportionately victims, **** Black people. America's Founders were racist because they were smart, cops are racist because they live in the real world, and Republicans are racist because they refuse to kowtow to political correctness.

Absolutely! Of course, every time some problem is settled by guns, someone is gonna die, but given time, that will solve umemployment, shortage of housing, traffic congestion, and such. May even be a boon for the environment.

I guess the police shooting of Jayland Walker counts as a mass shooting, with 60 bullets fired by eight cops at a fleeing, unarmed man.

It probably isn't being screamed about because it isn't fashionable to care about dead cops these days. People get more mileage out of calling them "pigs" and criticizing them than they do by showing concern.

Sigh... Highland Park, Illinois. At a 4th of July parade. How American.

I think there will be a lot of jumpy people today, with all the fireworks going on. Myself included. I used to provide free balloon hats at gatherings like that but lately have been concerned that if one popped loudly I'd suddenly be surrounded by cops, like the Blues Brothers in the office after they paid the fees.
 
It has been 29 days since the last double digit mass shooting in the US.

During those 29 days, there have been 60 mass shootings with 48 killed and 259 wounded.

The Highland Park shooter is a young white male with a rifle. This will be the top news story for the next several days while the rest is largely ignored. The lie that white males commit the majority of mass shootings will proceed as normal.

Six people were killed and possibly more than two dozen others wounded when a gunman started shooting from a rooftop 10 minutes after the Highland Park Fourth of July parade kicked off Monday morning, authorities said.

Shortly after noon, the Highland Park police said it remained an “active incident” and urged people to stay away. Authorities continued to hunt for the shooter, and the FBI asked that anyone who had video of the shooting or possible information about the shooter call their toll-free tipline at (800) CALL-FBI.

A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and five other people wounded and bloodied near the parade’s reviewing stand.

NorthShore University Health System said 26 people were taken to Highland Park Hospital and five to Evanston Hospital, the “vast majority” being treated for gunshot wounds, though some “sustained injuries as a result of the ensuing chaos at the parade.”

Several witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired. One witness said he counted more than 20 shots.

But hurrah for the 2nd Amendment! Who knows where we'd be without it? And, of course, everyone's thoughts and prayers are with the victims!

Even that 'top news shooting story' will proceed as normal, don't worry. Regardless if the murderer is black, white, asian, latino, or venusian, the scenario is already written.

First, there will be 'mourns and prayers'. We'll see people putting flowers, candles and pictures. I guess the New York Times will make another of their impressively moving photo article, and interview the families. There will be the president's speech, too, where he'll tell us all how unacceptable it is in America.

Next, we'll see people on the Left side of the debate shouting "it is GOP's fault !" They will of course conclude that Republicans somehow usurped power and will shout "Vote to change things!" everywhere, and ask for stricter laws. Those on the Right side of the debate will come and defend "the American Way", denounce the attacks against individual freedoms and call for more self-defense rights.

Both sides will fight on page 2 and 3 of the newspapers, then on page 10 and 11. And on twitter, of course, trading crudely edited pictures with political messages in big red or blue letters, each ending with "Shame on you!!!".

The most reasonable people will argue on how 'check and balances' are still checking and balancing things, and conclude to not conclude.

And, in the end, nothing will change. Not a single bit.

So don't worry if only some of those murders get the headlines; it is mere sensationalism. The overall effect is the same - people die, and nothing changes.
