Seems a little too good to be true IMO. I really hope that a couple of Ukrainian farmers made off with APCs but I also wouldn't be shocked to find that these were either produced for propaganda purposes or are earlier videos recycled.

I think that these claims from Ukraine seem very optimistic.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Ukrainian officials said approximately 5,300 Russian troops have been killed, and claimed that 191 tanks, 29 fighter jets, 29 helicopters and 816 armoured personnel carriers have been destroyed by Ukraine's forces.

For comparison, under 15,000 Soviet soldiers were killed in the 10 year occupation of Afghanistan.

Ukrainian authorities have announced that their delegation has arrived at the Ukraine-Belarus border to start peace talks with the Russian delegation.

The main issue on their agenda, they say, is a ceasefire and withdrawal of troops from the Ukrainian territory.

Earlier it was reported that the talks kept being postponed due to logistical and safety issues.

In his address on Sunday, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that he didn’t expect a breakthrough from these talks.

But, he added, they should try and use this chance even if it is small, so that no-one can blame Ukraine for not trying to stop the war.

IMO any Ukrainian attending these talks runs a significant risk of not coming back. At best they run the risk of being detained indefinitely for being a drug-addled Nazi but I think there's a big risk that they will be killed when their plane/helicopter is shot down or their ground transport is blown up - and the Russians and Belarussians will blame Ukraine for the act.

It was the Ukrainians who asked for access to Starlink. Elon Musk says they will get access, and he is sending them recievers.

I don't see the reason to piss on him unless he fails to deliver.

I think he will fail to deliver because of two reasons

1. He's got to get thousands of satellite receivers into a war zone.

2. Starlink still requires ground stations in relatively close proximity to the people with the satellite receivers. They don't yet have the ability to relay signals through multiple satellites. That means Musk has to set up ground stations in a war zone.


That's still not a reason to piss on him, necessarily. He just hasn't thought things through, much like he didn't think the cave rescue death pod through.

Does this show a war crime? An apparently unarmed perhaps wounded soldier is lying beside the truck. Arms seem to be above his head. The soldier by the white van comes forward and shoots him.

Lukashenko is an incredibly nasty character - makes the notorious Kray Twins look like Pinky and Perky - a journalist has recently been jailed for 'insulting' him and who remembers Roman Protasevich being diverted off a Ryanair plane, together with his girlfriend and sentenced to eleven years IIRC and with the appearance of having been tortured when forced to confess his supposed crimes on state tv.

Belarusian journalist Roman Protasevich is under house arrest after the extraordinary diversion of his Ryanair flight from Greece, denounced by some as a "state hijacking".

Mr Protasevich, 26, was until November 2020 editor of the opposition Nexta channel on the Telegram messaging app. The channel was founded by fellow dissident Stepan Putilo and run from outside Belarus.

Nexta and Nexta Live, used for mobilising street protests, now have nearly two million subscribers, managing to get round heavy state censorship.
