Cont: The Biden Presidency Part II

Glad he didn't try to pull a Ginsberg.

As am I. It won't be that bad, but I think still in for some... ahem "entertaining" few weeks, maybe months.

I can't wait for the nominee to be a radical unhinged leftist according to Republicans and a compromised centrists who no better than a Republican from the Democrats, and I say that having no idea who they are going to nominate.

Pragmatically speaking, Biden should just ask Manchin and Sinema who they want and not make too much of a fuss. There's no reason to make another big spectacle about how those two have him bent over the barrel.

No, just no.

As I pointed out... Bush was caught calling a reporter a "Major league *******" on a hot mic.

Yes, there was a reaction. But it was limited. Nobody was accusing Bush of attempting to "destroy the media". People laughed at the situation, then went on with their lives.

So, treat Biden the way Bush was treated, since their transgressions were similar.

Totally different situation from Stubby McBonespurs, based on both the circumstances, and the number of attacks involved.
When Biden gets to Trump numbers of attacks, insults, etc., the pearl clutchers can let us know.

That won't work because that's not what those two want. They don't want to be asked and allowed to pick the next Justice. They want a big spectacular fuss making them (in their own small minds) look powerful and independent.

You're thinking like a rational, fairly intelligent, selfish person would. They're only the last part.

That hasn't been how other Federal appointments have gone so far during this Presidency.

The others aren't big news items, and those two aren't smart. The fact that they COULD have gotten the same 'gains' from other appointments but failed to isn't a strong piece of evidence to if they will here or not.

I'm hoping I'm wrong, but it seems all but certain it will be a huge point of contention if for no other reason than the media is going to be asking the same questions we are here.

Biden called one reporter a dumb sunova... the right wing is going nuts that he's attacking the media. This is the same right wing who supports Trumps notion that the media is the enemy of the people....

Why are we basing our standards of decency on Trump and his supporters?

It's not the name calling, which I have no problem with. It's the hypocrisy. And the getting a free pass on a very clear explicit standard that he set, and then violated.

Don't think Biden did anything wrong. Don't think the name-calling is wrong. Don't think Biden was wrong to say it's wrong. Don't think he's wrong to do it after saying it's wrong. Do think that this miserable pile of contradictions makes one better than one's political enemies.

If he were to nominate a progressive, progressives would acknowledge it happily. But he won't, so your prediction will happen to come out right even thought it wasn't inevitable.

I don't want someone for being ideologically progressive. It wouldn't be a negative either, but for a supreme court judge it's their reputation for principled and fair decisions that's most important. The best judge is someone where you can read a decision where you didn't like the outcome and still say "I get it."

The future of guns and abortion is at stake! And CRT.

No, the future of these things is pretty certain. Barring some extraordinary action (court packing, a handful of premature deaths on the bench) the right wing has uncontested control of the courts for the foreseeable future.

But they could read into the constitution that these are all state rights, never to be tampered with. Except guns, which are transported across state lines but nevertheless protected by the 2nd amendment that trumps even Jesus.

Let's see. The Democratic party leadership is firmly controlled by centrists, and the Biden agenda is being publicly stone-walled by two conservative ideologues. Yes, clearly the progressives are to blame.
Of course they are! If it weren't for the progressives complaining about it he wouldn't be publicly stone-walled.
