Cont: The Biden Presidency Part II

If such degrading language was wrong for Trump, it is wrong for Biden as well. Otherwise it’s the very definition of double standards.

Then again, nothing wrong with pointing out the hypocrisy of Trump supporters jumping on this after the 4 year poop show we recently endured, including repeated vulgarities at public events.
This is a perfect example of double standards and false equivalence by the MAGAchud.

Biden made a comment on (I believe) a "hot mic" about a reporter known for being more interested in "gotcha" type questions than useful probative questions working for a network known for pushing conspiracy theories (how many Fox hosts are being sued because they made false claims about voting machines?), and then apologizes after.

On the other hand, Trump:
- Made multiple comments over his political career, telling reporters to sit down, labeling them fake news, mocked a reporter's disability, etc.
- Made those comments openly during press conferences, in full view of the entire press gallery
- Also posted a video of him "symbolically" beating up the media
- Never issued a apology (even though his actions inspired at least one lunatic into sending bombs to Trump critics... his van was covered in pro-Trump statements and things like "CNN Sucks"

Yet we are supposed to somehow treat Biden's statements as somehow equivalent to (or even worse than) Trump.

The whole situation reminds me more of a case where Bush called a reporter a "Major League *******" (Wikipedia). At the time Bush was criticized/mocked for it, but ultimately it made little impact because people recognized it as a minor incident. This differs from Trump's attacks on the media.

Why are you using Trump as your standard of (in)decency?

Bahh they will get out of it by just using the standard argument that no reasonable person could take anything they say as a factual statement.

Because its the Trump-loving MAGAchud that are making the biggest deal about this?

Because the network that Doocy works for is extremely pro-Trump, and we like to acknowledge their hypocrisy?

Because, as I pointed out, other politicians (including Bush) have been caught making similar "private" statements, so we understand that a certain level of discontent is normal among political leaders and not something to be overly concerned about, but Trump's actions far exceed what is normal or acceptable?

Biden called Doocy after this "incident" and they cleared the air. Doocy doesn't seem upset about it at all, but the MAGAts sure won't let this go for a few days.

Based on the post that you're responding to, what makes you believe that Trump is actually being used as a standard of (in)decency, rather than simply an example of one who violates said standards deeply and constantly (and that use only after Biden and Trump were being lumped together as if they were equivalent)?

Trump is certainly someone who deeply violated standards of decency, after all, and attempts to create a false equivalence between his actions and Biden's very minor infraction (if it even counts as an infraction in a person's normal standards) is worth little more than an . Taking things a little further, Doocy has quite the history of asking really, really dumb questions at the behest of the extremely partisan network that he works for. It might, in fact, be a little fallacious to call him stupid, given the circumstances, but he's far more than earned the sentiment with his public performance. Whether people's standards take that into account is, of course, dependent on them, but only the most motivated and superficial twisting of logic can justify creating a false equivalence with Trump and Trump's actions there.

Obviously the Bidenbros weren't going to make a big deal about Biden saying such language is unacceptable from a President to a journalist, and then going on to use such language anyway. One of the most important services a political opposition provides is speaking up about things that would otherwise be swept under the rug by partisan hacks. If progressives had the courage of their convictions, they'd be calling Biden out for both his bad behavior and his hypocrisy.

Instead, we get this bizarre lashing out.

Every President bitches about the press. You ought to read what FDR said about them in private.
Thing is BIden did not threaten them the way that Trump did.

"I’m not joking when I say this: If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect or talk down to someone, I promise you, I will fire you on the spot — on the spot. No ifs ands or buts," Biden said. "Everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity." - Joe Biden

You tell 'em, Joe!

No, just no.

As I pointed out... Bush was caught calling a reporter a "Major league *******" on a hot mic.

Yes, there was a reaction. But it was limited. Nobody was accusing Bush of attempting to "destroy the media". People laughed at the situation, then went on with their lives.

So, treat Biden the way Bush was treated, since their transgressions were similar.

Totally different situation from Stubby McBonespurs, based on both the circumstances, and the number of attacks involved.
