Guilt by association is a non-trivial factor of political movements. Like it or not, associating with people like Ngo is relevant.

Relevant to what? The merits of the arguments put forth here? No, it's not in the least bit relevant.

If your point is that propaganda can work, and trying to smear opposition to trans radicalism by associating it with Ngo may help reduce its popularity, well, maybe that will work. I don't think it will change the minds of anyone here, though.

Yeah, yeah. You work really really hard to try to contaminate views you dislike with the dreaded label of "fascist". The way you use it, it has no meaning at all.

I suppose when you don't have an actual argument, insinuations and labels and poisoning the well is all you've got left?

The weeks leading up to Pride parade are interesting here in San Francisco. This year, many shops and restaurants posted signs with the LGBT rainbow flag and a message indicating "EVERYONE is welcome here!" just to clarify and let everyone know that they're one of the few establishments in the city that will dare to take money from gay people.
 
Is it too late for me to (re)announce that if you were born with a dong and balls, I don't consider you a "woman"? Seems like this thread has really drifted.

I'd almost be tempted to show up with a MAGA hat just to see how welcome I'd be.

I'm confused about all the terminology. I think some of it has cleared a bit after reading about a tenth of the posts in this thread. But, to be honest, I don't really care that much anymore about the definitions that people want to use. It's sort of like those arguments where people argue about whether the word "atheist" means someone who simply lacks a belief in any gods, or someone who has a belief that there are no gods. Neither definition changes the state of affairs in the world, it just changes what we call it.

Similarly, I'm lost as to what people mean by "man", "woman", and "male" and "female" in this sorts of discussions, but again definitions don't change the state of affairs. Now we've got "birthing person" and "menstruating person" and the likes creeping into discussions. I doubt I'll ever have the occasion to use any of those.

On that topic, I've started a new job and one of my coworkers on another team seems to fit within the thread topic. First guess is that the person is a trans woman. To me, they're obviously were born with a dong and balls (your terminology ;) ) but are trying to present as the other type of person. But in addition, they are wearing a really, really obvious blond wig. I mention that because it's so obvious I can't think of why that particular wig was chosen. i've only worn a wig on a few occasions, but would submit that my wig selecting acumen is far superior. I've interacted with this coworker on several times, and thing have been polite and cordial. If a situation came up where I had to wing it with a set of pronouns, I'd try out "she" and "her" and see how it went. But most likely, I'll get a name or overhear some pronouns in the meantime.

I almost included that in my post, but thought it'd be met with the argument that people who wear MAGA hats certainly don't welcome everyone, so they shouldn't be welcome here. Sort of a self defeating argument, but that's how it goes.

Another SF example, that's in place year-round is a church near my home that is painted purple, has all sorts of signs about worshipping "goddess" and also proudly proclaims, with the appropriate capitalization, that "EVERYONE is welcome". I think it's safe to say that not exactly everyone is welcome there as well.

I'm amused by the term these days, because it's being applied to all parts of the political spectrum.

That's always been the core of the discussion. Still right, though, no matter how much flapping goes on to say that it doesn't apply any more.

Do you think Ngo doesn't qualify for the term?

He's been outed collaborating with militant fascist street gangs in Portland, most notably Patriot Prayer..
