This wouldn't surprise me one iota.

I wonder if they'll say Boebert (I think it was her) did show a group of rioters around the Capitol the day before the riot.

It's a given that this happened, even the Idiot Ron Paul's Waco Whackos are not dumb enough to storm the Capitol without someone having their backs.

Curious what the house dems plan to do about it if it's true. If anything, this will only boost these politicians credibility among the right wing base. If there are no meaningful consequences, there's really nothing punitive about uncovering such a scheme.

More important, IMO, is what Republicans plan to do about it.
This would be a perfect excuse for McConnell to rid himself of the New-trump-army in the house.

The Rolling Stone article is better argument that the riot was unplanned rather than planned.

Why would he? He's still getting what he wants by riding the MAGA wave. All the energy in his party right now is in the MAGA base, there's no reason to expect that McConnell is going to self-sabotage his party for the greater good.

The Rolling Stone article doesn't provide evidence that they were planning to

Jerome Corsi did, as well as Steven Bannon, they called for an Illegal move By Mike Pence.
They also planed on violence against fellow Americans, who fortunately didn't show up.

You are speculating that violence was planned.

Then again, we have one congressional rep wearing a bullet proof vest that day, so perhaps they had more than an inkling that the "stop the steal" crowd may have been more than just talk than they would be willing to admit now.

ETA: The fact that there was a permitted, lawful protest planned that day does seem to make it unlikely any of these people will get caught conspiring for unlawful activity. Unless they are absolute morons, maintaining plausible deniability would have been pretty easy.

McConnell is in the senate. I don't think he has much influence on how the house is run.

The person who would need to 'clean up' the house is minority leader Kevin McCarthy, who is more likely to enable the terrorist sympathizers in congress rather than get rid of them.

You articulated it better than me. I tend to directly state the plausible deniability case rather than pointing out that it is a defense you would have trouble overcomming.
