Re: Congress-critters assisting Jan6 terrorists...
McConnell is in the senate. I don't think he has much influence on how the house is run.

The person who would need to 'clean up' the house is minority leader Kevin McCarthy, who is more likely to enable the terrorist sympathizers in congress rather than get rid of them.

However you slice it, the optics at least are terrible. Congressfolk consorting with folk under criminal investigation, and dangling pardons even before trial as an inducement in a quid pro quo. In normal times, this would be a scandal of almost biblical proportion.

The US is plunging into lawlessness at breathtaking, break-neck speed, and the DOJ looks to be asleep at the wheel when it comes to dealing with the big fish. No wonder the grifters and crooks are coming put of the woodwork to secure their place in higher office. Politics is a racket where "too big to fail", or "it'll be too partisan or traumatic" to bring charges gives license for criming.

Why would a blanket pardon encourage them to plan legal protests? Put another way, why would its absence discourage them?

Because planning a protest is work, and this is compensation to get the person to do the work.

Who knows, it is the reported fact in the article. Saying it is something else is merely speculation.

Because people planning legal, peaceful protests always discuss "blanket presidential pardons" as 'compensation.

Take it up with Hunter Walker. If you are questioning the claim of the source then you would have to equally question the the statement that a pardon was offered in the first place. You have equal evidence for both.

That's not the point. I don't know if they were discussing blanket pardons, but if they were, your point about "planning a protest is work, and this is compensation to get the person to do the work" still doesn't make sense.

Why? Why can't that be used as compensation for labor? It is certainly valuable.

The only value in pardons as compensation is in the ability to commit crimes.
But, I feel everybody (including you) knows that already.

China Syndrome, Trump taped into the hate for China.

Problem is Trump based his opposition to China on sheer racial grounds, "The Chinks are no good" rather then the more rational grounds I dislike the Chinese Government on:I don't like totalarian dictatorships that seem to be getting more agressive, period.

The person had committed a crime previously and the putative offer was a pardon for that.

If I'm facing computer fraud, and you say you will get me a blanket pardon to paint your house, I will paint your house.

The committee is going to subpoena John Eastman, the lawyer who advise Trump on how to overturn the election.

Why? Nothing he did seems related to the attack on the capital. His legal opinion didn't mention breaking into the capital.

It appears that some folks look at political purity as:
The only true Republicans are me and thee, and I think I have doubts about thee.

I think we have changed that to the only true republican is Trump as he is the arbiter of all policy and purity.

Ah question. Why the **** is Steve Bannon still walking around free?

And don't tell me "There's a process." If he was a black guy selling loose cigarettes cops would have given him 57 warning shots by now.
