Texas bans abortion.

Talk about crazy logic: "You don't care about children, because you won't pay to raise them. We care a lot more, because we advocate killing the bastards-to-be before they are born."

You are the one advocating for the use of contraception. You hate "children" so much you won't even allow them the chance to become a zygote. :(

I have only used the term "human being" because according to some in this thread, the word "human" by itself means something completely different. :boggled:
Do you think otherwise? When you go for a medical appointment & they want blood work done, is the specimen they take not human?

This semantic word play is just a feeble attempt to deny one thing: a foetus is NOT a cancer.

Your insistence that DNA is irrelevant doesn't make it so.

Your insistence that DNA is the only matter of relevance doesn't make it so.

Life & ethics are complicated. DNA can be relevant or irrelevant. Look at the damn context. There are no clear, demarcating lines.

I have previously explained why a zygote/embryo/foetus (see what I have to go through to avoid a "gotcha"?) is different to a random collection of cells. I have also pointed out that it doesn't have any bearing on what rights it might or might not have.

Correction. You have asserted a thing.

I can not give comprehensive and unambiguous definitions of "human being", "person" etc (everybody's understanding is different). This is mostly stuff indulged in by FOTLers to "prove" their conspiracy theories.

You have no idea. Seriously, you have no clue

US District Judge Robert Pitman blocks the TX law saying:
"...this court will not sanction one more day of this offensive deprivation of such an important right".

Unfortunately, TX will appeal the ruling to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, one of the most conservative in the US.

I just can't understand why any man is staunchly against abortion. Why do you care? Is it really about the fetus to you, really? I just can't bring myself to care, especially so much that I would tell women what to do about it.

I think 99% of anti-choice people lie when they explain why they are against it, even to themselves. I think men don't like having zero control over women when it comes to anything.

And I believe a large percentage of these men would be happy to pay for an abortion if the pregnancy wasn't convenient for them and they could keep it secret.

Tim Murphy, for one

A congressman’s unbearable hypocrisy on abortion

CNN — When is abortion OK even for the most vociferous pro-lifer? When that person needs one, of course.

......

Murphy responded, “I get what you say about my March for life messages. I’ve never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don’t write any more. I will.”

But two days later, Murphy (or his office) sent out an e-newsletter championing the pro-life cause. (Asked about the report, a spokesperson for Murphy said, “The office has no comment or response to the story.”)

Most men who throw this holier than thou crap around as their reason are liars, especially politicians. Politicians don't care, they just want you to care so you will vote for them. What a con.

Same as with the public anti-gay rights stance when they're engaging in homosexual activity themselves.

That's where an intellectually honest person would put a response, hell even an acknowledgement, of the dozen of valid points that have been raised against you.
That leaves you out then. You don't even know what "points" are raised against me. All you know is that others call me "intellectually dishonest" so you immediately jump on the band wagon.

I remember a line from the original "Miracle on 34th Street":

“Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to
Seriously Warbler? You're leaning on a 1947 movie about Santa Claus to justify believing without and against the evidence?

Faith is the excuse that people use when they don't have a good reason. Because if they had a good reason they would state the reason instead of appealing to faith. You might as well answer you believe "because."
