No, but there are Liberal seats there. They can’t divorce themselves from the Nats and will suffer the consequences.
This post is not about covid but the political response to it.
A few weeks ago someone walked out of hotel quarantine in Adelaide after 14 days with the virus and brought it to Melbourne. When infected numbers started to increase, the Victorian government locked Melbourne (and to a lesser extent the rest of the state) down. Now the only one or two local cases we see are in quarantine and not spreading the disease. We are now out of lockdown.
More recently a quarantine worker in Sydney (limo driver taking incoming passengers to quarantine hotels) ignored directions to get vaccinated and started spreading the disease. Unlike Victoria this lapse is on Gladys and Scott. The NSW response? No lockdown, pubs, clubs and gyms still open.
With cases going into double figures, certain council areas locked down, leading to the ludicrous situation of pubs on one side of a street closed and on the other side, partying on.
Today saw 29 infections. Exposure sites going through the roof.
NSW, excellent in spin, have been saying that many cases are linked. So what? If they were linked and in quarantine that would be different, but linked yet out in the community simply spreads the virus.
The NSW government is still dithering on a total lockdown of Sydney. Incompetent.

I've noticed that people online who have been referring to "Chairman Dan" and the hard lockdowns in Vic while praising NSW for being oh so clever have shut up all of a sudden.
They've screwed this one up royally - I just hope the Sydney case who travelled to Melbourne hasn't spread it around.
He infected a co-worker and they are both in isolation. So far nobody on the flight or any customers have tested positive, but they haven’t tested all of them.

I hope it's contained there, because it's right out of hand in Sydney, which is locking down at least a week late.
You'd think the evidence of Taiwan would have encouraged politicians to learn, but nah.
We didn't shut travel from Sydney until Wednesday, so it could easily pop up here as well.

The belated Sydney “lockdown” is still faulty. There are no restrictions on how far people can travel for the “approved reasons”. People can travel outside Sydney for work or compassionate (and maybe even exercise) reasons.
Also reports are that bars and restaurants were packed to the rafters today before the 6 pm “lockdown”. Common sense out the window.
I don’t want to see anyone die, get hospitalised or get badly ill. But I’d be lying if I said I’m not feeling a sense of schadenfreude.

There have been 83 cases in the last 13 days in NSW 75 in the last week. They are in huge trouble. Only hope it stays there and does not spread anywhere else. But I doubt it.

This is an example of failure of national leadership. A Hawke or a Keating or even a Howard would have engineered a truely consistent, national response to the virus and vaccinations. Morrison has done **** all.

We are now locked down for 2 weeks. Pretty much the same restrictions as Melbourne - stay home, WFH if possible, essential food shopping only, no public events, masks, masks, masks.
Yep, Victorians, if you want to point and laugh, go ahead. I'm blaming the LNP and Scomo for their "No wuckers, mate! We'll be sweet!" approach that has led us to fall flat on our faces with this. We should have gone MUCH harder, earlier. But that would have frightened the Liberal horses, and wimpoid Scomo couldn't stand that.
Luckily, I got my second shot of AZ last week. So I'm feeling somewhat more invulnerable as it takes effect. Not that I am going to roam the empty, tumbleweed-infested streets of our town doing some random shoplifting. Too much work to do at home just now.
