Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 27

Poor Eric.

“[Donald Trump] was very excited about this blog for the first month after he was banned on Twitter, and now he’s just abandoning it,” Kimmel said Wednesday night. “It’s a move he calls ‘The Eric.’”

Pretty funny that a former POTUS doesn't know how that works... but not surprising given that we're talking about this specific POTUS.

I would wager one or two Honus Wagners that Trump couldn’t pass a basic civics literacy test, much less the one given to new citizens.

“Person, woman, man, camera, TV” doesn’t count.

The only people in denial are members on this forum. You'll also deny that Re-President Trump's August inauguration did not attract a record-breaking crowd.

The citizenship test includes questions such as
which of these four states borders Canada?
Four constitutional amendments relate to who can vote. Describe one of them?
The House of Representatives has how many voting members?
Y
There is no way Trump could answer those.
I’m not entirely convinced he could pass a citizenship test if he had time to prepare for it,

I'm certain a large percentage, if not a majority, of American citizens couldn't.

Was that double negation deliberate?

One of them I can answer off the top of my head because of Schoolhouse Rock during Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid. :D

"The 19th Amendment struck down that restrictive rule."

There was an episode of "Cheers" in which Coach claimed that we remember facts by associating them with music, and it's true in this case. I can recite the Preamble of the Constitution from memory, but I tend to use the cadence of the Schoolhouse Rock song when I do. I also remember things like the commander at Bunker Hill being named Prescott.

These are classic!

That would be the easy game of "Never have I ever."

Bill: "Never have I ever... lost the popular vote twice."
George, Barack, and Bill all stare at Donald.
Donald: "Screw you guys stupid game anyway I'm out of here..."

Are you kidding?

Donald: "Neither have I! I won the popular vote both times if you don't count all the illegal, fraudulent votes!"

I don't usually quote the National Review, but:

Maggie Haberman Is Right [nationalreview.com]
Donald Trump really does believe that he, along with two former GOP senators, will be ‘reinstated’ to office this summer.
The scale of Trump’s delusion is quite startling. This is not merely an eccentric interpretation of the facts or an interesting foible, nor is it an irrelevant example of anguished post-presidency chatter. It is a rejection of reality, a rejection of law, and, ultimately, a rejection of the entire system of American government. There is no Reinstatement Clause within the United States Constitution. Hell, there is nothing even approximating a Reinstatement Clause within the United States Constitution. The election has been certified, Joe Biden is the president, and, until 2024, that is all there is to it. It does not matter what one’s view of Trump is. It does not matter whether one voted for or against Trump. It does not matter whether one views Trump’s role within the Republican Party favorably or unfavorably. We are talking here about cold, hard, neutral facts that obtain irrespective of one’s preferences; it is not too much to ask that the former head of the executive branch should understand them.
