Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 27

In the spirit of “never attribute to malice that which can be sufficiently explained by stupidity,” in my opinion that was a simple slip-up on the part of the web site maintainers. It was likely part of a test dataset intended only for internal use and ended up visible to the public by accident.

It happened all the time though. Every publicly searchable database would have Tony Stark, or Wakanda, or Clark Kent, or Jack Mehoff, or something else plainly stupid.

One? Oh, okay. but when it happens again and again, you know it's amateur hour.

Honestly, when I saw that, I figured that it was intentional, rather than any kind of accident, more than anything else. I'm certainly not going to claim that it wasn't utterly stupid or a clear sign of amateurism, but I suspect that they did think that they would get away with it on the premise that people (likely including their superiors) wouldn't actually be reading their work or really caring if they tried to pull crap like that.

Unfortunately the Wakanda thing was hardly the worst dumb-cluck screw-up that the T**** administration perpetrated. No need to list them, but it went way beyond amateur hour with the hiccuppingly hilarious presidential inauguration celebration (which, incidentally, has not been paid for yet). Things rapidly hit "raving lunatic orange-ass baboons running the asylum" level shortly thereafter, and then went downhill. So it is hardly surprising some of the temporary interns thought it would be fun to "do stuff" like that. It could hardly have been as ridiculous as what The Boss was doing and saying.

Well, exactly. The entire operation was bonkers, because the nature of the office is that the executive branch, to some extent, follows the leader. And in that case, the leader was bug-**** crazy and desperate for attention. With iden, that's just not true. They do their jobs, leave people alone, and so the Biden Presidency thread is mostly quiet as well.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded to accusations by Trump that his county had deleted the election database.
“Wow. This is unhinged. I’m literally looking at our voter registration database on the screen. Right now.”

The first clue should have been the fact there is no "election database".

It's like bad mid-90s movie hacker dialogue.

"Oh no. Impossible! He subnetted the firewall! Unless the token ring gets stuck in the ethernet there's nothing between him and OSI!"

The Arizona Republican in charge of an audit recount of the ballots in the 2020 election has lashed out Donald Trump on Twitter, calling the former president “unhinged.” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded to accusations by Trump that his county had deleted the election database. “Wow. This is unhinged. I’m literally looking at our voter registration database on my other screen. Right now,” Richer tweeted Saturday. “We can’t indulge these insane lies any longer. As a party. As a state. As a country. This is as readily falsifiable as 2+2=5. If we don’t call this out.” Republican Senate President Karen Fann, who is leading the audit efforts, has demanded Richer hand over passwords to voting machines and ballot databases, and that the entire Maricopa County Board of Supervisors attend a Senate inquiry into alleged discrepancies on Tuesday.

What the article doesn't state is that the Maricopa town of Cave Creek is holding an all mail-in election on Tuesday.. Fann is either an idiot, or trying to intimidate them.

...or both.

Wouldn't you know it. The whole thing is because of a Karen.

Out of curiosity, I wonder just how many babies are being..or not being...named "Karen" now.

Not many.

And I’m married to one born in the 1950’s!

Give her my condolences...not for being married to you, but for being named 'Karen'. It's a name I would not want to have now for obvious reasons. I know two Karens. One born in the1950's, one in the1960's.

Only if she was born in the 80's. In the 90's or later she can give it an even more 'unique' spelling like Quarren.

Why do people do that to their kids?

Don't get me started. A coworker of mine insisted on calling her daughter Jozy-Ann instead of the common Josianne, because she liked Ozzy Ozbourne. When she had a boy and wanted to call him William (a decidedly non-French name) I joked that she should call him Willy-Ham.

Tell me about it. I hate 'cute, clever' spellings. They are neither cute nor clever.
My great-nephew's name is the same as a tree. When my niece was pregnant with her second, I only half-jokingly asked if she was going to name it "Hemlock".
