He doesn't read because he has a learning disability, likely more than one. My best friend has a Master's in Elementary Education with a specialty in Reading Development and she is convinced Trump has a reading disability, especially in comprehension. She's watched him read and she says all the signs are there. This is supported by the reports that he doesn't read anything but rather has reports orally presented to him. He has even admitted that he does not read. He gives excuses when asked to read things like saying he doesn't have his glasses with him, etc.
He doesn't bother to do any research or to ask others' advice because he already believes he knows everything: he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He's a "stable genius", remember? That does not make him stupid. That makes him mentally ill.
I also suspect Trump has undiagnosed ADHD. As the wife and mother of two adults who have ADHD, I see it in Trump. He is undisciplined, has a short attention span, has little self-control, is impulsive, and is fidgety. Even when he speaks, he has to constantly move his hands. Learning disabilities and ADHD are often, but not always, comorbid. Luckily, with my husband and daughter, they were not.

Exactly. As a former teacher, I noticed it years ago and asked my BFF to take a look at videos of him reading. She confirmed my suspicions. It is readily apparent to anyone with any reading training.

I wonder sometimes about the "stupid" issue. I think there can be a distinction made between cleverness and intelligence, as there is between skill and art. You have to be some sort of astute - at least a talented bull-thrower - to get away with so much for so long and to end up as President, but at the same time, its hard to see much real intelligence. At some point it seems we ought to look at "body of work," and if all we see is dumb luck, privilege, litigiousness, lies and stupidities, maybe we should stop looking for a hidden core of intelligence.
Certainly learning disabilities don't make you stupid, but they don't make you smart either.

As much as I agree there are some qualitative differences in detention conditions, this visit juxtaposed with the AOC/squad visit is quite an uphill battle to fight.

My favorite Smart MD and people calling in about Biden's decline and the MD says he exhibits all signs of Parkinsonian cognitive decline/dementia. Look it up.
Better hope and pray he doesn't get the 2AM call about someone bombing someone in the world. He can't take that call and run to the problem.

I think asking if he is intelligent is like asking if a virus is intelligent. No, just extremely well-adapted to its host. He is running a social media algorithm that is extremely well suited to provoking outrage and gaining likes and eyeballs.
