Baltimore Stops Arresting People for Petty Crimes & All Crime Rates Go Down.

This is something that started in 2020, of note.

Crime in Baltimore declined significantly in 2020. Violent crime dropped 20% from March 2020 to March 2021, property crime decreased 36%, and there were 13 fewer homicides. It wasn’t due to COVID lockdowns — other big cities saw crime increases in the time of pandemic. So what was the secret to the success? Counterintuitively, it was fewer arrests and prosecutions for non-violent crimes.

In March last year, as the severity of the coronavirus became apparent, the State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that the city would no longer prosecute drug possession, prostitution, trespassing, and other minor charges, to keep people out of jail and limit the spread of the deadly virus.

The policy was so unexpectedly successful that Mosby announced on Friday that the policy would become permanent.

You know, I'm getting the same vibe from these anti-Biden posts that I used to get from certain Holocaust deniers who used to post here.

That is, exactly what is it that you think you'll accomplish with the above post? You have to know that we here will regard it as pure partisan ********. You do know that, right? You didn't really expect this site to be filled with people who agree with you, did you?

So, what was your plan? Did you expect us to fall for your personal ********? Was that it?

Because seriously, honestly, listen to me: If we were going to fall for partisan Republican ********, we'd have already fallen for partisan Republican ********.

If you actually want to make us change our minds, you've got to bring something better than the stupid ******** you've shown above. And if you really believe in the Republican Party, or Trump, or just honestly do believe that Biden is a puppet suffering from severe dementia who is being exploited by some nefarious behind-the-scenes cabal, then you should want us to change our minds. And to do that you've got to bring better arguments, if you're able.

Of course, if you don't actually believe any of the BS you're spouting and just want to troll us, go for it.

But if you go the troll route, you should maybe just stop for a moment and realize, that literally makes you worse than the Holocaust Denier. At least he tried to step up with a real argument.

I don't mind one bit if Biden stutters once in a while. I don't mind if he has a brain freeze now and then. It doesn't bother me if he is occasionally forgetful. What I got from the press conference was how human he was and great information about progress.

It's refreshing to hear a President not spouting racist rhetoric. Not once did he brag about himself, cry fake news or bully someone.

I think he did a great job. I'm so happy the country elected a good man.

Agreed. It's wonderful not feeling like I have to shower after watching him to wash away filth.

Indeed. If all Monica can dredge up is whining about cue cards then I think we're doing at least ok. ;)

ETA: Regarding the cue cards or binder or whatever, I'd like to have Monica comment on the fact the Kayleigh(sp?), T****press secretary, brought a binder to every press conference and sometimes READ FROM IT.

Not for the first time I will say it doesn’t matter to me in the slightest if Mr. Biden is in any way cognitively impaired, up to and including a full vegetative state. That’s still a jolly green giant step of an improvement over the former guy.

We’re coming off a four-year period during which the chief executive and commander in chief of the armed forces was hands down the worst, worst, worst there could possibly be. Someone whom one of his own cabinet members called “a ******* moron?” A still phlegmmy cat’s hairball would be worlds better as president.

So, discuss and debate Biden’s policies, plans, and proposals. That’s as it should be. But the personal stuff? Does anyone honestly think that’s going to ever matter?

To be fair, if I saw the likes of Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, or the like, I'd be tempted to heckle them too, so it could easily be actual people from Mexico.

"Hey Cruz, Stay out of Cancun, go back to Canada! If you're here to hand out water, we're all gonna die of thirst! Tom Cotton sounds like a slaveowner in a cartoon! BOOOOO!!!!! Where's your spine, Graham!? You suck!!"

No need to say it was Toupee Fiasco - his jet's all broken and sitting in the Northeast last I heard anyway.

Personally, the personal stuff with Biden matters about the same amount as the personal stuff with Trump to me. My opinions about the person and how well they're doing the job certainly are linked, albeit in distinctly limited fashion. Trump cheating on his wives, regularly screwing over the people who worked for him, and so much more demonstrated that he was utter scum, with a soft spot for committing crime. That was reflected in how he "did" his job when elected, but is far less influential in my opinion of him professionally than how hard he and his Administration worked to hurt the American people in general and how hazardous he was to national security in so very, very many ways. Biden's history is hardly spotless, which did and does make me wary of him, but mostly, his history seems to also bear out that he's a decent and reasonably competent guy. That, too, is being reflected in how he's been doing his job as President, but matters far less to me than what he has and will do when it comes to forming my opinion about how he is as President.

I'm shocked to hear that the modern GOP finds themselves in alignment with a bigoted authoritarian grifter like Putin...

In any case, I still see no actual evidence of serious mental decline in Biden - he's still coherent, plainly knows where he is, and capable of making his own arguments, as he's shown repeatedly since announcing his candidacy. And frankly, I can't take people seriously when they say that sort of thing.

I went back and watched the press conference again to see if I could see the so called mental decline. What is it they say? There is no there there. I thought it was a great press conference.

But the Trump trolls almost certainly did not watch the press conference from start to end. These people are simply parroting the pundits on right wing media where they never carried the entire press conference from start to end, but cut away to push their message and that's what the trolls go on about. They have their own view on reality because they don't give themselves a chance to see reality.
