Well Caroline, I wish you a long and healthy life. As I do my super gym addict healthy step dad who has a small kidney tumor in the only one he has left and is at more risk of Covid because of his previous surgery. Luckily, he got the shot (twice!)...but somehow could not talk my mother into it at the time. Though she has done it now!

I do have some simpatico with you as there is another area of this forum where I am being accused of 'conspiracy theory' thinking. Which feels so odd since I'm so skeptical of things (by my own estimation of course!)

Hint: We haven't enacted measures that throw multitudes of people of of work, curtail travel and trade, severely damage the whole world economy, and in general take a lot of joy out of life, for a war on C. diff.

I'm skeptical of plenty and vaccines and toxic drugs are one class, and other stuff in the world, but I know how to meditate and relax and not get hot and bothered like so many around here. A lot of stuff in the world that I don't like, I can't change, so I "let them go"...it's a big world.

If I had my druthers I'd repeal all compulsory mask and spacing rules and all trade and travel bans, and allow people to decide for themselves if they want vaccinations, as one might expect in a land of the free and the home of the brave, not the Fauci Republic.

What you you recommend?

In those circumstances would you care enough to voluntarily wear a mask in public and social distance to help protect your fellow citizens from exposure to COVID 19? Would you wear a mask and social distance in order to protect yourself from potential exposure? Would you get a vaccine in order to protect your fellow citizens by contributing to herd immunity. Do your personal freedoms supersede the rights of your fellow citizens to be able to avoid a potentially deadly disease? Do you think that as a citizen you have a responsibility to contribute voluntarily to the common welfare of the society you live in?

My understanding is that vaccines in your country are entirely voluntary. Am I mistaken?

Does Fauci actually have the authority to mandate masks and distancing? My understanding is that he is only able to make recommendations that can be adopted by elected politicians.

Editorial comment - the residents of your country are not free, nor are they particularly brave.

ETA in response to your edit - I recommend voluntarily following the safety precautions and protocols recommended by your country's medical experts in order to help avoid spreading COVID 19 to your fellow citizens.

I would recommend that if you feel free and brave enough to take that attitude, you should be willing to do a few things in return.

First, I think you should agree (in a binding way) that if your actions contribute to the illness or death of anyone else, you will agree to full responsibility for them. Pay for their medical care if they need it, lost income if they incur it, indemnity for death if they die. All the way down the line. e.t.a. and whether or not you do things voluntarily, you should make the pledge and make others take it too.

Second, I think you should agree that you will not change your mind partway through. If you get sick from Covid, suck it up. If you get mortally sick from it, tough. If you decide you'd rather be vaccinated later, too bad.

Contagion is not a personal matter if you live in a society.

What would your philosophy have specified for Mary Mallon? Hey, it's a free country.

If I had my druthers I'd repeal all compulsory mask driver testing and spacing road rules and all trade and travel bans road signage, and allow people to decide for themselves if they want vaccinations which side of the road they want to drive on, as one might expect in a land of the free and the home of the brave, not the Fauci Republic National Transportation Bureau.

People with heart disease, diabetes, and lung problems usually have good immune systems. A healthy immune system doesn't make one impervious to illness, to believe so is foolish. Native Americans had fantastically healthy life-styles and diets, but when European showed up they died from viruses their immune systems had never encountered before.

Your theory holds no water.

Does this mean I can earn extra money by renting the house next to yours to store nuclear waste? I like your application of science because suddenly in your world radioactive contamination becomes a myth based on the fact nobody can see radiation, and those who die from radiation poisoning are at fault for unhealthy life-choices.

Nobody is asking you to storm Omaha Beach, or Iwo Jima, today the brave thing to do is wear a mask.

Australia had severe lockdowns and its economy has bounced back with only 997 deaths in total.
