For local numbers, about 10% of Americans have diabetes. But 10% of Americans don't typically die of diabetes every year.

Just about 10% of Americans have chronic lung conditions.

We have about 1.8 million NEW cancer cases diagnosed in 2020. I couldn't quickly find a total, but hopefully that new diagnoses number gives you something to chew on.

Nearly half of all Americans have some kind of cardiovascular disease, 38%.

So when you say that most people who died had a pre-existing condition... the majority of adults have one or more of those preexisting conditions. They're not otherwise on deaths door. Most of these for most people are treatable things people live with.

But Covid is especially dangerous for people who are compromised.

Go ahead and tell the families of over 500,000 deaths from Covid, that they were going to die anyway! Why have them live for another year, or 20, when you can say goodbye to your loved ones now...

So my son in-laws Uncle who died from Covid, yes he had problems, but he would have been around longer to be with family...

You don't make sense, why are you making fun of deaths from Covid with a failed analogy?

There are a couple of problems with this so-called "herd immunity" BS you are pushing here

1. You need somewhere in the region of 70 to 80 percent of a population to either be vaccinated or have contracted the disease and become immune. In the US, as of today, 29 million have contracted Covid19, 63 million have received the vaccine (not all have had the necessary second dose to complete the course). That is, at best, 92 million out of a population of 331 million - that is less than 28% - nowhere near enough for herd immunity.

2. It is by no means certain that contracting one strain of the disease makes you immune from other strains of the disease. Herd immunity doesn't work if there is no immunity from prior infection - for example the common cold.

Listen the scientists and the epidemiologists, not the quacks. You are trying to spread misinformation and BS, that makes you a big part of the problem.

Caroline, in all your complaining about "the Left", which you clearly don't understand, you are overlooking the inconvenient facts that your government (well, the last one certainly and the jury is out on the new one, as the Democrats frequently come over more like what we might see as One Nation Tories) and ours, just to give 2 examples, are actually very RIGHT wing and ours is pushing lockdown and vaccination for all they are worth. Yours was far too chaotic do anything much.

Point me to a properly left government in any western democracy, please? Germany is pretty much right of centre and even if the SDs were in power they're only slightly left of centre; it's hard to tell where Macron sits, as he's such an opportunist; anyone else you'd like to claim is a rabid lefty?

Or are you going to claim, pacé Antifa really being behind the incursion into the Capitol, that our Conservative Party and your Republican Party are actually false flag operations?

I keep rereading the above post looking for some way to interpret it that doesn't seem ghoulish. But however I parse it, I come up with the same impression of callous disregard for people suffering from preexisting medical conditions. You are constantly presenting yourself as a paragon of health (even though reaching the age of 82 is now rather unremarkable, and only about 4% beyond average), which further reinforces my impression that you are contemptuously dismissing people with health issues as inferior, and therefor not worth considering when counting the costs of COVID19.

I hope that wasn't your intent. But, accidental or not, you should be aware that that's how it reads.
