This shows the difference between Trump and Biden. Trump provided a new controversy every day. Sometimes 5 or 6 new controversies a day. People need something to talk about. They are so desperate for controversy, that they will make one out of nothing.

To be honest, I don't really see this is anything other than a passing story of the day type thing, but I'm impressed by the libs here that refuse to see this as even the mildly embarrassing story that is obviously is. I very much doubt Biden himself had much to do with this at all, it was always small potatoes stuff.

Some Biden staffer talked out of his ass and his boss didn't really live up to the standards promised, which was pretty quickly rectified once negative press coverage made the situation too embarrassing to sweep under the rug.

It's undoubtedly a good thing that this is the kind of thing the Biden administration is at least able to be shamed with, as other administrations likely would have just doubled down or played games.

I don't understand the knee-jerk apologism being employed here, especially given that everyone involved has pretty much admitted this shook out exactly as described and the guy "resigned". Truly baffled by these suggestions of weeks long investigation and deliberation rather than the plainly obvious attempt to make the story go away and protect their own guy from the consequences of his unprofessional conduct.

There's a reason for the imbalance. Those issues (which are very real) you raised are very complicated, involve scientific information and have huge political overtones. Thus, they're not easy to debate in one or two paragraphs. They're also in some sense abstract in that they involve nearly anyone.

But the firing is none of that. It is small, easy to get a grasp on and many of us have probably been in one position of another in whole shebang. It involves only a couple of people and has no (or at least very little) policy implications. In short, it's a perfect debate topic!

It seems to me that the Democrats are really playing with fire on this issue. They ran very explicitly on the promise of $2000 checks. Not delivering on this seems like something that will be deeply alienating to the voters.

There's already been the 1400 vs 2000 debate, now there's murmuring of means testing who gets the 1400 check more strictly than all the relief that was issued during the Trump admin, and there doesn't really seem to be much urgency in getting this out the door.

The way I see it, the Democrats have 2 years before the next election to make the case that life for average people is better with them in charge. The wavering on the relief checks, which is a political slam dunk, makes me think that we're going to be looking at a Republican controlled House very soon.

There we go! Weeks schmeeks, we want no investigation at all! No asking for the employee's side, no review of video, hell not even engaging (that means talking) with the person the employee is alleged to have talked to! And if that means we don't have anyone to work the counter, that's just the price you have to pay for being righteous! And if we spend all our time firing all our people instead of working for the people, it's even better!
