Just to add another aspect to all this, though...

Swalwell, a member of the House Intel Committee, says we need to find out whether the rioters were working with members, senators or staff on the inside, saying that it seems "all too coincidental" that they knew right where to go inside the Capitol complex.

Honestly, if Trump had joined, the damage done would probably be a lot worse and the coup attempt would have been more likely to have more success. He'd lose any hint of plausible deniability, of course, which would be a silver lining, but I'm quite fine with Trump not joining in.

There's something to be said when it comes to justified killings. She fairly certainly did deserve what she got. That doesn't make it any less sad or horrible, just grimly justified.

Slightly related to that, though...

I think that that quote is rather telling, really.
 
I've felt for a long time that for the mindset involved in this, there's an instinct that right or wrong is mostly about who you are, rather than what you do. There's good people and bad people and that's more or less set. Similar to the talk of "law abiding citizens" with relation to firearm laws. Heck, it comes down even to minor things. Someone else speeding is a maniac. If they get caught speeding, well, they're an otherwise lawful person in a crisis of being late and should be given consideration for that.

I guess going 1-67 or whatever, and getting sued for $1.3 billion by the company you defamed, and being tied forever to inciting the terrorist mob that attacked the Capitol, is grounds for being P.O.d.

The “iceberg” isn’t quite going the way our local treason apologist seems to have thought, though.

Marcus, a lawyer representing Trump in one of his Federal lawsuits challenging the results of the election results in Pennsylvania, filed a Motion to Withdraw as counsel for the plaintiff (Trump Campaign). Marcus’ motion states that he is seeking leave of the Court to terminate his representation of the Trump Campaign on the grounds that “the client as used the lawyer’s services to commit a crime and the client insists upon taking action that the lawyer considers repugnant and with which the lawyer has a fundamental disagreement.”

Gotta say I agree. It's one thing to say that someone who once took an oath as a member of the US military to defend the US Constitution deserves no sympathy for getting what she could reasonably have expected in disregarding so blithely what she once stood for; it's another thing entirely to chortle over it.
