Major explosion in downtown Nashville

Occasionally I'm reminded that like 99% of what we've known about suspects in crimes in the last decade or so comes from social media (and the very scant, sterile information you can get from public records), and when someone is off that particular grid the news has to resort to treating him like this total cipher. It's like we don't know how to know anything about anyone who doesn't live behind a manifesto.

Article from the Daily Mail:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...Anthony-Warner-sued-mom-property-dispute.html

The Daily Mail has a reputation, but the article contains several verifiable facts. Assuming it stands up to scrutiny, the article says that the properties that have been discussed were subject to a dispute between he and his mother. They were inherited after his father and brother died. The proper disposition of the property was the subject of a lawsuit.

Seems like a dysfunctional family was involved. No known reason for choosing downtown Nashville as the scene for the end of his troubles. I'm glad no one died, except the perpetrator, but the injuries and damage caused, the lives disrupted, are pretty despicable.

From what I have been able to piece together this all looks like just a family dispute.

His brother owned two properties on the same street. Warner lived in one of the houses with his parents until shortly after his father died in 2010. Then he bought the other house from his brother and moved in there.

His brother died in 2018. A month before he died his brother gave him power of attorney. He used that to transfer the other house where his mother was still living into his name.

His mother sued him claiming that he abused his power of attorney for personal gain. But shortly before the lawsuit was filed he transferred ownership of the property to this 29 year old woman in Los Angeles.

A few months later that woman transferred ownership to his mother and his mother subsequently dropped the lawsuit.

A month ago he he transferred ownership of his house to this woman in Los Angeles. She says she did not ask for it and was not aware that he had done so. She had last talked to him two weeks before Thanksgiving. She did get a letter from him at some point which appears to have notified her of the transfer.

She won't say anymore to the press. His mother has also said she will not talk to the press on the advice of her lawyer.

It is not known what his relationship is with the woman in LA. Some reports say he had a relationship with her mother and others say that she is a niece. But it appears that she is either family or close enough to be treated as family.

It looks like the transfer of the first house was just a family dispute where she was a sort of neutral party while the dispute was going on. The transfer of the second house was probably because he had decided to kill himself. Her phone number was found taped to the back door of the property.

Hm. Two counts of felony filing a false police report and one count of tampering with evidence. Not the kind of charges one might expect.

The charge of tampering with evidence is from allegations that he messed with or disconnected speaker wires to make it appear that he could not have sent out the claimed audio.

I think the charges of filing a false police report are from a law that includes doing something to cause police to react to a false report--such as a bomb hoax. Tennessee law for False Reports includes "Intentionally initiate or circulate a report of a past, present, or impending bombing, fire or other emergency, knowing that the report is false or baseless and knowing...It will cause action of any sort by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with those emergencies..."

It is alleged he played the audio first at a church and then at a convenience store.

It has been reported that his father worked for BellWest which merged with AT&T. He lived with his parents until 10 years ago. But then got into a property dispute with his mother. So he may have had a strong connection with his father, and his father may have worked at what is now the AT&T building.

My guess is that he used to meet his father after work and have fun downtown. His escape from an otherwise isolated and perhaps distressing life. The theme of the song "Downtown", which perhaps they shared when discussing such meetings. He chose that as the place for his final existence.

Just a guess.

He could have been listening to the song while rigging the RV, telling himself that "things will be better" once he's no longer around, playing it and convincing himself that what he had started was for the best, unfortunately being unable to see the many rational ways he could've revolved the disputes with his mother... Then played it one last time as he set the explosives off.

This family drama sounds so mundane. Kind of takes the mystique out of the bombing.

1st lecture on a journalism course these days appears to be how to create a Twitter account. The second is how to copy and paste from Twitter. The third, who needs a third!

Actually, that makes total sense. 61 years ago QAnon induced his parents to name their child Anthony Quinn. QAnon probably also had something to do with the name Warner existing in the first place.
