2020 United States presidential election - Conspiracy theories, alleged fraud, etc

Trump and his supporters love Democracy so much that they don't want anyone to actually use it, lest it gets smudged or scratched.

If you want to peer into the gaping maw of madness, search "betfair" on twitter.

Betfair is a gambling company that held bets for outcomes of the presidential race. With the selection of electors Monday, betfair decided to make it official and declare Biden the winner to start distributing payments to winning gamblers.

Trump CTists who still think Trump has a chance are having a meltdown. Apparently some were still placing bets for Trump after election results were showing a decisive Biden win, doubling down on the wild theories about how Trump would really win and trying to capitalize on very long odds at the bookie.

CTists that haven't accepted reality are now claiming that betfair will have to eat crow and pay out billions of dollars after Trump is crowned eternal god-king of America, proving their bets were in fact winners all along.

Lots of screenshots of delusional MAGA betters bombarding betfair customer support chats with tedious CT screeds about how it's not over and there's still time for Trump to win. A rough day to be working the call center I would suspect.

Truly bonkers stuff, kinda fun to read in a very sad way.

If this doesn't stop soon, I'll almost start feeling sorry for these idiots.

ETA: on second thought, no, no chance of that.

This is funny to me, because...well, I'm admittedly not a Tucker viewer, but really what are the chances that he's never had a likeminded talking-head on his show with a PhD that he had no problem referring to as "Doctor"?

For those not aware, there’s a brouhaha about a Wall Street Journal editorial suggesting Jill Biden drop the “Dr.”.

I assume Tucker just picked up on that.

I just saw we have a whole thread on that topic.

Even Nate Silver dunking on these morons:

Trump has had a ~10% chance to win the election on prediction markets for weeks, long after the race was called for Biden. For people who were like "this is only because of structural flaws with those markets" ... nope. There really were enough true believers out there:

Truly deranged stuff going on in MAGA world.

Pretty sure the video Silver retweets is a Poe, but the fact remains that there was a betting market for Trump even after it was clear he lost, so the Poe is very believable.

I saw that one earlier, I thought it was real. But after watching it again, yes, probaby a Poe. "The money going to Soros or Antifa", that's probably too good to be true.

MAGA Twitter is really insane these last days (more than usual). And some normal accounts have now the bad habit to post screenshots from "Parler", which are even more deranged.

To get back to sanity now, I just come here and read the 9/11 CT forum.

At a broader level, 90% of the stuff I've been seeing online for the last month has been absolutely barking. Insofar as I can be bothered to engage, which is only ever for the lolz, I ask the same two questions:

1. Are you on crack?

2. No, seriously, are you on crack?

I asked this question before, and was advised that the whole "if there is no Electoral College winner" is misunderstood--that provision where the House selects the president etc only kicks in if the EV's are COUNTED and there is no winner. If the counting is prevented, that vote doesn't happen.

It's so easy to find those examples of Carlson being a blatant hypocrite; what does it say about how little he thinks of his fans that he knows that that doesn't matter because he can be sure they won't make the effort to find them?

I don't think they understand Kantian ethics--the idea of their arguments effectively being proposed as a maxim that should apply to similar situations. That much abstract thinking must be too much to handle.

ah, but since this is the Last Election Ever (because of Armageddon, duh), there is no need to adhere to any principle or consider and future fallout.

The Trumpugnicans' idea of Democracy is that only they get to elect the president of their choosing. With them, its all about getting into power and staying there, no matter what the cost to the nation, in order to benefit their donors.

Isn't this funny Bubba? He'll never see his family again except through plexiglass. He's so stupid, he thinks he found election fraud. Now his life if ruined forever. I'm laughing, aren't you Bubba? He wanted to steal the election from the American people and now his life is ruined. I'm busting a gut laughing at him. So be it to all who would steal our election.

Now now, hater.

Sneering at the mentally ill is bad form

In the Nineties militia groups and the seriously deluded were reporting all kinds of invasions by the UN, Gurkhas, Chinese at the Mexican border, etc., all here to put everyone into FEMA camps, etc.
