More importantly, are you absolutely sure ballots that were observed as not having been folded must be illegitimate? And would that be more or less certain that your stance that mail-in voting for all was unconstitutional?

If not earlier. Expressing doubt even before the election about whether you WILL concede, should you loose, kind of closes the door to "graceful", in my opinion. - And opens the door to "forced".

Tremendous problems being found with voting machines. They are so far off it is ridiculous. Able to take a landslide victory and reduce it to a tight loss. This is not what the USA is all about. Law enforcement shielding machines. DO NOT TAMPER, a crime. Much more to come!

As best I can tell, it has elements of the first and third. I think it appears in a report made public yesterday about Michigan voting. That report is basically a conspiracy theory manifesto. It asserts (not exaggerating here) that Dominion voting systems were deliberately engineered to facilitate election fraud. The percentage comes from taking some reported vote totals and comparing them to some other vote totals that were reported later. The earlier vote totals were found to have a data entry error that had nothing to do with Dominion.

So, you start with some errors, pretend that those errors had a different source than what they had, and use those numbers to come up with a bogus statistic. That statistic gets published in a report, which Trump tweets about.

Whatever tenuous connection his tweet has with reality is purely coincidental.

I think the way it's worked out is that an error by a Republican clerk resulted in one county in Michigan initially reporting that Biden was leading despite that county heavily favoring Trump. The error was quickly caught and corrected, leading to Trump winning the county with ~68% of the votes. Therefore, 68% error rate. Rubbish, in other words.

I have to wonder why he did this. I don't think his silence was really costing him anything. He never said Trump won, and he never said Trump lost.

The obvious answer would be if polling data or just a sense of the electorate was that people were tired of the Trump Show, and wanted to move on, and that he feared there might be electoral repercussions down the line. However, that hadn't stopped him before, and I don't think the electoral vote of yesterday was that big of a deal.

Bigger, probably, was the Supreme Court decision not to take the case. It signalled that they weren't going to be a pushover for Trump. The only chance he ever had was if somehow five justices just decided to ignore their duties and/or reality and declare Trump the winner. When they wouldn't even take the Texas case, it signaled that door was shut.

I have to wonder if Bill Barr's resignation influenced McConnell or any other Republicans to decide that the cost of this pretense was too high to go along with.
