THIS TIME the plunge into darkness would seem to have been avoided. So yeah, put out for public consumption the pathetic, embarrassing twisting of a crew of incompetent losers. But do not ever let down your guard. An ominous twilight looms, and the reckoning is only delayed. The angst over Nixon's ouster, and now the fury over Trump's losing will keep the ground well prepared for a future strong saviour. Competent swindlers will arise, and would be much more likely to succeed.
Tell me how refusing Trump's narrative is letting my guard down?
I believe repeating Trump's narrative gives it credence. I also think there are only a few news sources now writing op eds on how this nonsense could succeed. It sells. Maybe they believe it. Maybe they don't have anything else to write about.
The latest stunt bringing to the WH the 2 MI state GOP election officials who refused to certify the votes in Wayne County, relented and now want to change their minds again has set off another round of, "look what Trump is doing now." Trump will no doubt seek to get more news media attention by displaying his little minions. I suspect Trump will personally hold a press conference of some sort so he can appear with the two and spout lies that the MI vote is tainted.
Most news sources will say it's BS. But some won't be able to resist fear mongering because it sells. What it really is, is a desperate move on Trump's part. He has failed to get any movement with the 2 dozen plus lawsuits. Withdrawing the final one in MI signaled him giving up that route. Now he is moving to the next failed endeavor, getting state legislators to override their voters.
He might be able to get a minion or two to join the campaign of refusing to certify election results. It's not going to happen and if the news media sticks to their guns refusing to let Trump dominate the news with this nonsense, Trump will lose GOP support.
OTOH if the news media plays the story up (because it sells) it will result in yet more minions joining the circus.
We in the public need to put pressure on Republicans to give up. As long as they believe Trump could pull off a coup (he can't) they won't. If everyone repeats the real reality, Trump has failed and is just getting more desperate, Trump will have no choice but to give up. As long as he gets attention, he won't stop.
After 4 years he's doing it again and again some people believe the con. I don't.
