Here in Georgia, Republican Senator David Perdue never once mentioned Trump during any campaign speech or advertising that I saw or heard, and actually got more votes than Trump did in Georgia. In our other Senate race, Kelly Loeffler ran on how far up Trump's ass her nose is, and she only got about 1/4 of the vote.

Maybe some Republicans are ready to move on from Trump.

I think a good many of his fans understand that this is just trash talk, but they think it is all good fun because they think one should never give an inch to one's enemies, even in defeat. Which again, is fine in some situations but has its limits in the current situation.

There is, I suppose and element of opportunism. If he gets enough people riled up, shotguns/spaghetti throws enough lawsuits and populist pressure, maybe he'll get lucky and make something happen. Almost certainly not, but he's having fun trying.

The main real concerns now are how soon he allows GSA to start the transition process, and whether or not any of the trash-talk motivates people to violence. I'm getting a bit less worried every day, mostly because the lawsuits have been such failures and because we've got some statements from the critical state governments stating that the elections are valid and the results will be followed. GSA may not be transitioning but the states are assigning delegates and the process of putting together Electoral College is moving along. The gradual grinding progress of that will allow people to slowly come to terms with the situation. (But they'll keep on trash talking and expressing denialism because they think that's fun.)

The thing that scares me is that, had the election been close, his crap might actually have worked (I mean something like in 2000, where one state could swing it and that state is really close. The lawsuits he has filed so far have been completely ridiculous. Mostly uncorroborated accusations of stuff that, at most, might change few hundred votes if they were upheld, but the evidence has been so flimsy that all but one or two have been immediately dismissed. I'm pretty sure that it's just to keep MAGA morons stirred up and fleece them to contribute more money, most of which is actually going to pay down campaign debt. I think the only question remaining is whether on Jan 20, Trump will walk out of the White House or be dragged out. My guess is that he will continue to do all he can to impede the transition, then on Jan. 20, he will leave still claiming that the election was rigged. If he somehow manages to survive and stay out of prison, I expect him to run again in 2024. At this point, I would almost like to see him stay in the White House, raging at staff after noon Jan. 20, when they quit taking his orders, and be dragged out in handcuffs, straight to a jail cell, but I think he has just barely enough sense to avoid that fate.

For the last 12 years, every time I have thought that, this time, the Republicans have got to start dialing back the crazy, they have instead doubled down on it. I am hoping that they begin to fade into irrelevance, but they still have an incredible amount of believers. At this point, they are more a cult than a political party.

Acrtually, I don't know which Republicans anger me more: The MAGAtards who believe every word Trump says, even when what he says today contradicts what he said yestarday, or the ones who know he's full of ****, but say, "Well at least he's not a socialist (meaning he cut their taxes), and he's appointed Supreme Court Justices I like." The latter sort are the same sort of idiots who thought they could control Hitler after they made him chancellor.

The news media as well needs to stop asking "will he leave" and start saying Biden will take office on Jan 20. They sort of say it but they can't help themselves keeping the sensationalism/controversy going because it sells news.

It's one of the two major political parties. It may be a bit silly of me to worry about it becoming the only major political party though considering all the down ballot results.

Some Republican factions have been subsumed into the Trump juggernaut. You get the feeling that the Religious Right is holding their nose while voting for him.



Personally I would love to see the Atheist faction take over, I may have to live a very long time for that to happen though.
 
By the time Trump is removed from office it may be a Pyrrhic victory, the damage done to faith in the system will mean that there is no hope of healing the divide in the US and having convinced themselves that the Democratic party shamelessly cheated the Trumpistas will see no reason not to 'retaliate' next time.

Not sure what happened to the tally, but 395 votes were subtracted from Trump's total while 61 votes were added to Biden's total.

Pro rasslin' fans should understand well how trimp is playing this. Boasts, claims, lawsuits et tal to waste time to the big event on ppv. In this case the official EC decision. Backed with final counts of course.

The counts done by magamath with be soon forgotten and gone.

Just a thought, if his campaign was financed by his own firms, on loans, and now those debts need to be paid back with interest he is paying himself a profit on donated funds.
If he owed his campaign to outside sources of money he wouldn't give a **** if they ever got paid back. Business as usual for him.

It appears he still has use for hate filled maga hats.

Progress never moves in a straight line. More of a zig zag. Martin Luther King, Jr., reminded us that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Change takes a long time, but it does happen. ... Each of us who works for social change is part of the mosaic of all who work for justice; together we can accomplish multitudes.

No question in my mind that Trump was a reaction to Obama and the progress this country has made. This election was proof that a majority of Americans will stand against racism and batcrap crazy. That's the good news

The bad news is that a sizable number of Americans are fearful of change. Afraid of people that look different and live differently. That fear manifests itself as hate. Trump embraced and emboldened that hate.

Trump reminds us that we must not take for granted that things will get better. That we will need to be forever vigilant against that hate

Right. Task #1 for Biden is handling Covid. Task #2 is strengthening voting - making it easier, and secure in a way that lessens the chance that the trumpistas can complain without being completely looney (which we know they will, we just want to minimize it).
