2020 Presidential Election part 2

Tucker Carlson is avoiding the presidential election and focusing on how Democrats lost House seats.

Sorry guys. I've been watching the election coverage since 4pm Tuesday, and my brain is getting a little mushy. When are the run-offs? Taking the Senate would be huge, though that might be too much to hope for.

January 5th. It'll be...interesting.

I think early January.

Biden is currently ahead, and yet there is no rioting, looting, or videos of unhinged crying from Trump supporters-

This surprises nobody. One political party has a culture of psychotic childish outrage when they don’t get their way-

The other goes to court. Civilized.

Oh, no rioting. Just show up with guns at the poll counting locations.

Or stand outside the poll counting place screaming at the top of,your lungs to “stop the count!” when your guy is already behind. (Michigan)

Or just kneel and pray in some bizarre fashion that looks like a newfangled Wiccan ritual rather than Christian prayer right outside the polling place. (Arizona)

I don’t recall rioting immediately after Trump won, but there were a number of marches in anger with the fact that Trump won despite losing the popular vote.

Georgia (federal) runoffs will be Jan 5th.

I think no one cares as long as their idiot Lucifer loses and is replaced by some other dude who probably won't last through his first term.

It is like watching a train wreck on TV.

I see there's still a lot of talk about Georgia and a possible recount. But if Pennsylvania holds, none of the other states matter.

I never meant a recount shouldn't be done. I just meant that no matter what the result is, it won't make a difference, if he wins Pennsylvania.

Biden's lead in PA has grown to 0.3% (20K)

I don't know the automatic recount threshold for the Commonwealth. I know Wis is 0.25 and Georgia is 0.5

It's been mentioned elsewhere in these threads. Georgia does not have an "automatic recount threshold". What they have is the right by a candidate to request a recount if the difference falls below 0.5%, or for the relevant authorities to choose to do one, for the same standard.

That isn't the same thing as "automatic". In this case the GA state election authorities chose to do a recount, which I think is a reasonable decision. But there was no statutory compulsion for them to do so.

Here is a link to the relevant statute, if you want to read up on the details.

Only 21 states (and D.C.) have automatic thresholds. The threshold point and sundry conditions vary. Here's a list.

My folks live a bit past the suburban belt, though not deep into rural hinterland.

Several truck-flaggers have been circling their neighborhood repeatedly.

Well that is a cognizant point. But there are quite a few other groups that typically vote Republican and did not this year, after Trump pooped on them too.

For example in my case the rural vote which almost always votes Republican bailed in large numbers. Not completely, but enough in a few critical states to prevent re-election.

And both parties ignored Libertarians, even though they got more than enough votes to sway the election either way. I saw a great comment about that too.

You are not entitled to Libertarian votes

Honestly what are the Democrats going to do to play up to the Libertarians? Legalizing pot alone ain’t enough for most of them.

I don’t see Republicans being able to do much for them either, they are theoretically closer in ideology than the Democrats are by a huge measure but if they were actually close enough then there wouldn’t be a Libertarian party in the first place.

Do you need a cushion for your butt-hurt?

You should probably ignore our votes. You really can't please the committed set. If a party wants to legalize some drugs, and one wants to outlaw them, libertarians will still be angry at the former for being a bunch of statists who think government has the authority to regulate it and have proposed a way to excercise that authority.

You can't win.

No argument here. PA is huge, and despite Trump's efforts, unassailable. I think they're doing it right, and they can prove it. It's President Biden's world now, all but the shouting.

You can't win.

I would agree.
