2020 Presidential Election part 2

They may go with someone a bit less crass this time around. A person with a bit of experience and polish who knows how to run campaigns and act as a part of the government. Someone who can get more done, not just tweet all the time. No need to go full clown this time around since we can say the quiet parts out-loud without fear. He may be a bit old, but my money is on David Duke.

It's going to be Tom Cotton. He's smarter, he pandered to Trump enough to be seen as a supporter and he's a combat veteran for the military vote. Watch him power grab in the next couple of years to set himself up for a run in 2024.

Trump can claim that all he wants. As much as I despise this SCOTUS, every single decision has been to uphold whatever the individual State law is on how they handle elections. I don't see them somehow changing that somehow now.

Some states limit it to election day and other States like Washington State include all ballots postmarked by election day received within 17 days of the election because that's when they certify it.
And would they really want to be saying that citizens who followed the directions of their state are to be disenfranchised? I could see them saying "yes the rules were unconstitutional and must be changed for future elections" whilst allowing the votes already made to stand. Plus wouldn't it then open grounds for cases of citizens being disenfranchised?

Sadly, there are millions of his followers who would love to see him tear up the Constitution and rule as a dictator.

With any luck, the wind has been kicked out of their sails. I can't pretend to know how things will go forward, though. I'm kind of a situational optimist -- I don't assume that things will go all to hell, but I'm never shocked when they do.

But here's hoping that they don't.

It would have been so easy for Trump to hold on to power. All he had to do was modify his narcissism a bit, and act like a president, for FSM's sake. I might even have voted for him if he had done these things.
That "modify" would have actually have been the hardest thing for Trump to do.

I would love to see this whole mess come before the Court, and see them shoot him down 9-0. With the all-time greatest stinging rebuke from Chief Justice Roberts.

I would too. But I really expect them to refuse it cutting the whole thing off at the pass. Even taking the case is accepting a hand grenade.

Also my stomach can't take much more of this.

I see there's still a lot of talk about Georgia and a possible recount. But if Pennsylvania holds, none of the other states matter.

Refuse what? Why do you think he has anything to form a case that the SC would have to consider? He is a liar, like always he is simply lying, he has not even the smallest iota of a plank length case to go before the SC.

There will be a recount in Georgia. It's mandatory for any race under a half a point.

Biden is still ahead in all 4 states, and it is only in Arizona that Biden has seen his percentage go down today as more votes come in.

I vehemently agree.

Tom Cotton has been quietly biding his time in the shadows. And he's a nasty nasty piece of work, a warmongerer who's not afraid to flip the chess board and move the goalposts to fulfill his military fantasies.

And he's smart. Like scary smart. He's the disciplined patient guy crouched down in the shadows, nobody taking notice of him, waiting for the perfect time to pounce.

With that in mind, yeah... he's a scary piece of work to have as opposition.

Yeah, I think it's all done but the screaming. What? They're screaming already?

Yes, there's no chance that Trump can get the election overturned by SCOTUS or anyone else. I may not be American, but I know what America stands for.

So the only way that this could get overturned by the USSC is if there were an actual, legitimate complaint that could be made.

But if there were a legitimate complaint to be made, we would actually be hearing about it already. So far, the only thing Trump has said is, "On Tuesday, I had a big lead, but now I don't." That's not evidence of fraud, especially since we know about the issues regarding the timing of counting. There is no evidence in any way that election officials are violating any state laws regarding the counting of ballots.

The only court case that Trump has won so far is to let observers stand closer to those doing the counting.

If there was a legitimate court challenge out there, they would be doing it instead of the stupid crap they have been losing.

I'm expecting that Trump will file suit in federal court. Usually asking for a Writ of Certiorari requires it has already been ruled on by lower courts. But it wouldn't surprise me that they will attempt to go straight through given the circumstances and ask for an en banc hearing.

I expect them to refuse the request. Their problem is the court is going to be looking for a question of law not a question of the facts.

It's the exact way his cronies wanted.

"I can't believe that the exact people I've insulted and cheered the murders of for the past decade have decided to vote against me! And after out state legislators said they could only be counted after election day, their ballots are being counted after election day! What madness is this!? Sad."

Just...I dunno, imagine your own random capitalizations and shouted words.
Well that is a cognizant point. But there are quite a few other groups that typically vote Republican and did not this year, after Trump pooped on them too.

For example in my case the rural vote which almost always votes Republican bailed in large numbers. Not completely, but enough in a few critical states to prevent re-election.

And both parties ignored Libertarians, even though they got more than enough votes to sway the election either way. I saw a great comment about that too.

You are not entitled to Libertarian votes

Republicans: “We can’t let Biden win!”

Democrats: “We can’t let Trump win”

Libertarians: “Makes zero difference to us. These men both are both unprincipled, morally compromised, big government loving authoritarians. If Biden wins, if Trump wins, end result will be the same.”
