Really? He was on Bill Maher’s show the other night and was absolutely dreadful - painful to watch. Maher didn’t help as he kept interrupting him but he was shocking. Seemed drunk, all slurry and made several’jokes’ that were dreadfully delivered and unfunny and then had to explain them thereby killing them even more dead.

I didn't see that. But even the best have off nights. I generally find him funny, but humor is subjective.

Did anyone see Ivanka is now losing the plot as well?

Well, I must say I agree with Ivanka. For those who don't click twitter links, she said that every legal vote should be counted, and every illegal vote should not, and that this shouldn't be controversial. She's right.

I'm not sure that's the real goal of her father's lawsuits, but her statement is correct, and not controversial.

I wonder if Biden’s sort of bland, non-threatening manner will be a plus or minus going forward (if he makes it past all the legal challenges Trump threatens.) He’s gone out of his way not to be divisive, to stick to a positive message. I’m not sure it will help, but I hope it doesn’t hurt. I can do without a lot of toxic personal dynamics but some people like that aspect of politics; it’s something they can understand and relate to. It energized them.

My opinion of Biden has risen since I've seen him in the context of actually being president. I like his simple humanity and reasonable nature. Up until now, I've just thought of him as the "anyone is better than Trump" guy, but I'm starting to look at him more closely and I like him more and more. I expect him to do well as president.

I take it that in other states that have declared for Trump, the postal ballot favoured Biden, but since Trump won those states, he does not claim those votes to be illegal?

I put on a hazmat suit and poked my head in on the comments over at Breitbart. Those people are... weapons-grade stupid. Here's a top-rated remark (116 up-votes, 8 down-votes):

Donald Trump is Commander in Chief of the Pentagon until January 21, 2021

Do the Saturday Night Massacre thing right now. No delay.

Order the seizure of all ballots in WI, MI, PA, Georgia and NC. Bring them all back to the White House. Arrest all on-air talent at the TV networks and their CEO's beginning with Rupert Murdoch who is part of the coup.

Democracy is over. Trump rules or the communists do. It's one or the other.

At least this guy is just talking about state violence at the moment rather than taking matters into his own hands.

For those who don't remember it, they actually posted images on line of every single ballot that was disputed. It was so transparent, and really above board. Sure, some Republicans say they were robbed, but they weren't.

I remember it ultimately coming down to going through a big batch of disputed ballots. They live-streamed as they went through the ballots one by one and had a bi-partisan board make decisions on each individual ballot.

Democracy is over if Trump doesn't win! That's why we should utterly ignore Democracy to ensure he wins!

He's a very good man. I don't agree with him politically all that much. He's been through a lot and has compassion for fellow human beings. This is seen as a shortcoming to the Republicans of today.

After use, burn that hazmat suit in nuclear fire.

I went there four years ago on election night: Jubilation. Unrestrained euphoria. I still remember the top-rated comment: "Democrats haven't been this upset since Republicans freed their slaves." Democrats were stunned and disconsolate after the election. There were some tears. It also subverted almost everyone's expectations. With this election, a Trump defeat was always not only a real possibility, but more likely than not. And this is how they react.

That's what I'm seeing. I'm not that familiar with his politics, but he's a breath of fresh air simply as a human being.

Going back a bit, the above was posted when a 269-269 tie was a possible outcome. Now, it looks possible that it will be as many as 306 for Biden.

When we were discussing it, I called it a fantasy, one that I had indulged myself. However, if, once all the recounts and lawsuits are done, it turns out that there is no possibility that a faithless elector can influence the outcome, I think the possibility that rambaldi mentioned is very real. I doubt they will vote for Biden, but there could be one or more who votes for someone other than Trump.

Last time around, there were a total of seven faithless electors. I would have to look up to see how many were Republicans, but I remember that Colin Powell received three electoral votes in the 2016 election.

This is the number James Caraville predicted yesterday morning.

Just hope his health can keep up. The job can be stressful, and he is inheriting an administration in chaos.

Apart from that, contending with a hitherto badly managed pandemic crisis, a belligerent senate that will do everything in its power to cripple the government, a Trump who will probably begin validating Qanon crap to ensure some sort if internal turmoil, and repairing trump's policy idiocies, apart from his regular duties as President.

Hope he has a supportive and competent team of secretaries and bureaucrats .
