2020 Presidential Election part 2

That last sentence, the one you highlighted?

That's lost a lot of its punch over the past four years.

Political suicide would be something Trump's supporters and sycophants would draw the line at. It has been made eminently clear that for them no such line could ever exist.

They have established that they have no sense of honor or patriotism. No sense of history or how they will be seen by it. No glimmer of integrity.

And as long as their support is there, and especially as long as the covey of Trump partners-in-crime control the Senate, they have no reason to change. They know their actions will have no personal consequences for them. They have had years of proof of that.
Don't forget we are talking about the state legislators, not federal. These are not people who are uniformly sycophants. Many 'lesser' Republicans have been standing up against Trump. Take the Secretaries of State, (elected offices on the state level), who are responsible for the vote counts in their states. They have been standing firm that their vote counting is legit.

When Ted Crud gave his little 'look at me' talking point on Fox News last night all full of faux outrage that the vote counting was not transparent, the reporter from NPR said she was looking right at a live feed of the Philly vote counting.

I enjoy watching Trump flame out. It's a good day for America, and for that matter, the world.

Nate Silver just outright said he'd be comfortable calling the Presidency for Biden just on Nevada and Arizona, without even waiting on Pennsylvania.

Historically, recounts might have an effect of a few hundred votes. The only state that has any potential to change right now is GA, but with Pennsylvania, it wouldn't matter.
Yep, the 2016 WI recount resulted in a net change of just 131 votes in favor of Trump.

Pennsylvania is a done-deal. I know people in the know are saying that the latest release for AZ was not going to be enough, I think it can still wait. And I really want to see another update from NV before projecting too much. I agree it's probably safe, but you have have the votes in place before you start calling too much.

As we keep watching Pennsylvania, it’s worth noting that in addition to the fact that the vote totals we’re seeing there now are without the late-arriving ballots — the ones that might have been contested at the U.S. Supreme Court — there’s no evidence at this point that the Trump campaign’s other lawsuits in Pennsylvania are going to make a difference to the outcome.

I think that what with the trumpers surrounding the Biden buses.. and the crowds of “stop the count”... and the latest Trump meltdown...

That “Trump Derangement Syndrome” has a new definition.

I always thought of that phrase as, while it is used in a particular way, it actually suggests the opposite meaning. Like Trump's oft used 'Presidential Harassment '. He uses it to refer to harassment of the President, but the common usage suggests harrasment by the President. Case in point, Presidential Pardon...

And now the gap in Wisconsin is more than 20k. The trumpets have claimed they are going to pay the $3 mil for a recount, but hey, it's their money.

It was always the Trumpers who suffered from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Alas, part of that syndrome is an inability to recognize you're suffering from it.

Also at least Georgia has said at least a sizeable percent of votes still pending are military, which obviously often have to vote from remote locations and whose votes are often the last to arrive.

Which is literally any other year could maybe tip a very, very tight race for the Republican candidate but well...

I'll believe that when I see it. I wouldn't be too surprised if late arriving military absentee votes close the gap, or even flip it. That's why Pennsylvania is so nice to have.

... In normal years, it becomes so obvious that one candidate is going to win that the other candidate makes a public concession, and at that point people start talking about the other as President-elect. That isn't going to happen, because Trump is Trump, so waiting for certified totals and the end of active litigation just makes sense.
You mean with normal Presidents. Trump wouldn't concede if it was a landslide for Biden. He is not capable of admitting to losing to or being inferior to another human being.

And I do mean that literally.

I think if Biden gets PA, NV, and GA then that puts him at 306 electoral votes, the same as Trump received in 2016. Despite losing the 2016 popular vote count, Trump declared such an Electoral College victory as a "landslide". I would love to see his reaction if a journalist asked him about losing 2020 by a landslide.

His reaction is easily predicted. He didn't lose in a landslide because he didn't lose. The election was stolen.

I see almost no chance that Trump will ever admit he lost this election.
