2020 Presidential Election part 2

I don't know how I didn't add it up until now. Biden is way ahead in AZ and NV, with 11 and 6 votes respectively. He's currently at 253. Adding the 17 makes it 270, and a win. I just heaved a great sigh of relief.

I would like the margin to be a lot larger, with the win of another state perhaps. But for now, it's looking darn good for Biden. And the country.

Oh, I'm liking that, too. It's just seeing the newspeople vamping for hours that gets tiring.

Imagine how it must feel for them. I don't think they enjoy it. Mebbe for the first day or so, but not now.

They know as well as any of us that there is little if anything they can add productively, but they have to be there anyway, trying futilely to make it look like they do.

I doubt they want to be there any more than you want to watch them at it. The difference is that you get to stop whenever you want to.

I feel sorry for them.

(Well, the legitimate ones, at least. Hannity, Gingrich, and their ilk can go sit on a spike.)

I am not speaking for Skeptic Ginger or even as an American (which I am not), but I think I can see why. For me it would be the inability to perceive that a majority of the people would be so dumb/bigoted/evil to vote for this person.
During the Parliametary elections last year, many of us were shocked when the BJP swept back into power and we speculated that rigged voting machines might have been the reason. However, a couple of months later we came to the stark realization that the majority of our fellow Indians are influenced by casteist bigotry and hate rhetoric. Modi din't have to cheat, he is basically the product of India's polity.

AP should cancel their AZ call (although I still would rate AZ as "lean Biden"), and call PA, putting Biden at 273.

Just as he has since losing the popular vote in 2016. But, and I repeat myself, it's not just Trump. The entire Republican Party has been doing that for a couple of decades now.

The Republican Party is truly the party of Nixon. They never got over him being forced to resign or be impeached.

I don't know about you but I think we are all tired.

I watched one Columbo rerun and was hoping it was over. I need to go to bed.

It's been an emotionally exhausting few days for me personally not connected to the election, too. I'm just wrung. When it rains, it pours. I'm surprised I can see straight, but I'm not sure I can sleep.

I feel for you. :hug6

I wouldn't trade our current mess for the troubles in India. Your Hindu-Muslim wars have been smoldering for centuries. And there was that period of British occupation plus the Pakistan division and Russian border conflicts.

If memory serves, Ford's pardon of Nixon was nonspecific and all encompassing.

Until just under four years ago, I hadn't fully appreciated the beauty of state-level crimes.

I like to compare it to the blue/yellow dress illusion. In an instant, half of the US realised that the other half thinks TRUMP is black and blue, when he is so obviously yellow and white. It was a shock. And I think my analogy got away from me at some point. Coffee!

I watched Trump’s entire press briefing. Words fail. He is literally losing his mind. We need a stronger word than embarrassing.

And yet not a single prominent Republican is willing to go on record to criticise him.

AIUI Mitch McConnell has refused to comment whereas Lindsey Graham is backing him all the way.

Hard to call Pennsylvania for Biden when Trump is still slightly ahead. Maybe by morning.

Yeah, I get that, and given the "atmosphere" created by Trump, they will be super super careful.

Still, I'll go out on limb and state that PA will go for Biden, and it won't be very close (say >1%).
Sadly, for some bizarre reason, my calls don't have the weight of AP's.

Trumps lead in Georgia is now 463. (Four hundred and sixty three)

counting continues.

ETA: In Georgia voters have until Friday evening to cure ballots that are defective so that they can be legitimately counted, so the count won't finish until at least Saturday.

Trump in mentally ill; incapable of accepting defeat. But that no prominent Republican is speaking up in to denounce his actions or, worse, is backing his lunacy is unspeakable. The enable him. All I can hope is that they know he is going down and that they will deal with him appropriately afterward, but from their past failures to ever rein him in, I somehow doubt it. They're disgusting.
