We just had euthanasia passed by one that was just tacked onto the election a month ago.

They work pretty good.

But understand the logistics of doing it in the US and size

Let me try one last time:

This would require a constitutional amendment. Those are very difficult to do and they require the agreement of large majorities of Congress and the states. It can't be done by a simple referendum.

There are ways around this which are being tried (the inter-state compact, which you can look up).

Anyway, this is the subject for another thread. Why not start that one, then we can all talk about the actual election which is the subject of the thread.

They spent 300 million one senate race. Holy #$%
I wish we could rein in "money = speech" as well as limit the election season to something reasonably timely.
But we lost control of this circus many, many moons ago. [emoji20]

Pennsylvania

Trump running way ahead of his 2016 performance in Trumbull County, with nearly all votes being counted. Looks like Trump may take it.

State Wide

PA Presidential Election Results

Trump (R): 51% (1,081,776 votes)
Biden (D): 48% (973,647 votes)

Estimated: 30-35% votes in

I just asked if you had referendum.

You could have just said no.

Edit: as in national ones

I am getting scared right now.

Then wouldn't it be better to change the system than moaning about who wins out of it, if you don't like them?
It would be better, of course, and people have greatly desired it and spent their political careers fruitlessy pursuing it. To do so would require radical surgery not just on the Constitution agreed to by the original 13 States but to the agreements reached with each new State since. It's a nightmare. To understand this you have to appreciate that the US isn't so much a nation-state as it is a treaty organisation, and an archaic one.

I'll just leave this here for the unhinged to ponder

"@Yascha_Mounk
Whatever happens, those of us who want to defeat Trumpism for the long haul will need to ask ourselves some very serious questions after tonight.

And no, "half of our compatriots are irredeemable bigots" is not going to cut it."

I refuse to start panicking this early as some are doing. Some states allow mail-in ballots to be counted beyond today and percentages of ballots counted are still small in so many states. Calm down, people. The sky isn't falling yet, Chicken Little.

Lord if only that were true.

Get it.

Far out.

Massive place though with loads of people and loads of history, so guess it is always going to be complicated.

Some good news: If Trump wins by more than 60 votes in the EC, I'll make some money (I bet against him to win by 30-60).

Also, Biden's not toast. Yet. I've been keeping tabs throughout the day (predictit crashed earlier). Here are the snapshots.

2020 Election:
7:55 am Biden at 61c, Trump at 44c.
3:45 pm Biden 70 c, Trump 39c.
4:59 pm Biden 68c, Trump 43c.
7:13 pm Biden 32c, Trump 78c.
7:17 pm Biden at 18c, Trump at 78c.
7:35 pm Biden at 34, Trump at 77c.

I keep flicking to the reports and seeing "BIDEN WINS" or "TRUMP WINS" on the map. Turns out they are just doing projections while John King fiddles with the states, saying "If this state turns red or blue, here's what happens." Hating that.

We we warned that election night would look better for Trump than for Biden due to the way the votes are counted; that in person votes tend to be Republicans and are counted first in general while the mail-in ballots will continue to be counted after midnight today.
