Cont: Biden for President? Pt 2

I get tired of the tendency to attribute all of the deaths from COVID to Trump, without any reasonable comparison to similarly-situated countries.

Wheras I get tired of people making excuses for Trump's utterly undeniable fumbling of this entire crisis.

Bla bla "Trump". Which derail? This thread isn't about "COVID". And it isn't about my opinion about Trump.

We now have claims of sex-tapes with 14-years old girls that Ghouliani gave to the police, evidence from the laptop. You haven't heard about that? Well, maybe that is because of a separate scandal to do with a certain Anna Makanju.

I had heard about that, as have you, so apparently Anna isn't doing a very good job.

But surely you would admit that so far what we are getting are rumors, tidbits, tiny morsels of uncorroborated information. Right? We have "claims", but no more. And even if there are some unsavory or even criminal images on the laptop, what's your point? Hunter isn't running for President.

Personally, I think the FBI would have had something to say before now if there were illegal pornography on the laptop, but, regardless, Hunter isn't running for President.

So far, what has been claimed is a big pile of nothing on Joe Biden. If that's all they've got, Joe doesn't need to lose any sleep in the next two weeks.

I'm seeing 1140 in the US yesterday, with a total of 1362 between Spain, France, UK, Italy, and Germany. Though those countries in Europe combined have about the same total population as the US does.

On the other hand, it looks like 2400 Americans died on Omaha beach on D-Day, out of only about 36,000 attacking.

Another sources pins at 2,000.

https://www.history.com/news/d-day-...es occurred on,killed and another 574 wounded.
The numbers vary according to the source.

No one knows the answer with any degree of precision since reports of the dead were secondary to actual operations.

Here's a good article about the challenges of counting casualties during Operation Neptune.

The experience in the US on a per-capita basis has been about the same as for Western Europe. Trump is a horrible poster-child for how to behave in a pandemic... but the virus itself has no political affiliation, and the spread of it is largely unrelated to what politicians say and how they behave.

No it's not. And yes Trump is a horrible child.

The experience in the US on a per-capita basis has been about the same as for Western Europe.

The US has more per capita deaths than any European nations other than Spain and Belgium. 5% higher than the UK. 10% higher than Italy, 20% higher than France. More than double the death rate of Romania. More than 5 times the death rate of Germany.

I think the US is doing significantly worse than western Europe.

(All numbers approximated)

I have to disagree. I think the spread of the virus is very much related to the way people behave, and I think the way people behave is influenced strongly by the way politicians behave. Trump has encouraged reckless behavior, and his followers have done as he encouraged.

Again "But wait how do KKKKNNNNNOOOOOOOOWWWWWW that a President that doesn't openly insult and not listen to the top doctor in the country and tell people to inject bleach would have done a better job?" is not a question we should get baited into pretending we actually have to answer.

The same way I'm not going waste my time proving that a hypothetical tuna fish sandwich would be better then the sandwich of rock salt and broken glass I was served.

Donald Trump is the Irwin Mainway of Presidents.

Or imagining we don't really know that Trump ****** up the response to COVID.

We do know. Those of us in public health and infectious diseases know. Most people with common sense that aren't in a Trump propaganda fog where they question reality know.

And why on Earth would it matter that the virus is apolitical? :boggled:

Imagine an America where its president, back in February, had responded to the pandemic with (and continued with that message all these months):

"Please wear a mask, do it for your country, do it for your fellow countrymen. It's the patriotic thing to do."

Every ten-toothed trailer trash Trump voter would be walking around wearing a mask, carrying their AR15's, and threatening to shoot anyone who isn't doing their patriotic duty of putting on a mask any time they leave the house.

Yeah...

Donald Fuckface Trump is not only 100% at fault for the covid numbers in the US today, he's also absolutely undoubtedly guilty of mass murder too (100's, 1000's? We'll never know the true number he's directly responsible for).
