Lots of law and order rhetoric from Trump. but no mention of the right wind kidnapping plot on Michigan's governor.
This is a truly scary development.
THE POTUS might be de facto approving of right wind terrorism.
I repoeat my advice to my progressive friends;Time to reconsider your anit gun opinions.

Taliban spokesperson says they support Trump

Another endorsement! Who next? Darth Vader?? The Devil???

Just got the Colorado ballot - 21 Presidential candidates. Yes, Kanye's one of them, as is a "Princess Khadijah Maryam Jabob-Fambro" (running mate is "Khadijah Maryam Jacob Sr.").

Looks like the Princess is effectively a Black Lives Matter candidate. Doesn't seem as crazy as the Communist and Trotskyist candidates...

Don't really see why.

The worry is an insurrection of right-wing militia types against the state governments. If Trump loses the presidency, that's when these right-wing militias will start an uprising on a national scale. In that case, they will be up against the US military.

Who is going to win in that case? The US military will, of course, wipe out the right-wing gun-totin' 2nd Amendment types.

She is a follower of Louis Farrakhan.

On her Statement of Candidacy for the 2016 election under "Name of Committee" she wrote "From one alien to another alien, 'Lil Wayne' Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. 'President Carter' will you marry me? I am God!!! President Princess Khadijah M. Jacob-Fambro".

I don’t get it. Am I just not understanding?

For weeks Trump has been doubling down on his themes of law and order, urban violence, socialistic Democrats stealing the country, etc. Although these may play to Trump’s core supporters they are clearly not buying him support among the swing voters he desperately needs. His polls, both nationwide and swing states, in fact continue to tank.

So why does he continue? Ego? Stubbornness? The inability to admit he is wrong? Why not change tactics and pray?

What does he have to lose?

If he loses the election his grave from a legal standpoint is as dug as it's gonna get. There's no amount of course correction he can do now (if there ever was) that is going to redeem him. He knows that.

*From the Family Guy episode where Peter declares his house an independent country*

Chris: Dad I tried to go to school but this guy wouldn't let me.
Peter: Oh yea! Well him and what army!
Chris: *Points* The US Army *A mass of tanks and soldiers is outside the Griffin House*
Peter: Oh that's a good army.

Ah - got it. I just glanced at her website and it seemed to be all generic progressive stuff.

I'll eventually check out all the other unaffiliated candidates - gotta be some real winners in there. Also going to try to predict if they get into double-digit votes or not (basically a count of how many friends and relatives they have that are equally nuts).

This is not true though. If he changed course now 100% of republicans would vote for him, and many 'independents' too. Even this close to the election a change of tack could narrow the gap considerably, and combined with the usual voter suppression etc. might be enough to scrape through.

But Trump won't do that because his ego won't let him. He would have to admit he was wrong, be reasonable and take the advice of others, which he will never do. Luckily for us he isn't smart enough or rational enough to pull it off.

Yeah but asking why Trump just won't start acting all sane and rational (or even evil and Republican within normal parameters) is like asking why Batman doesn't stop spending his fortune on bat-themed accessories to make punching mentally disturbed people in the face more effective and instead spend it on social programs or why the grizzled old private eye who takes "One last case" doesn't stop drinking to make solving the case easier... because they would cease to exist as the character they are and I use that phrase "Character" very deliberately.

Trump wants to win, but not at the expense of no longer being "Trump." When someone has no personality only a persona like Trump changing who they are to win is just another way of losing.

The main recent behavior that sheds light on his sticking with the same tactics that aren't working is the avoidance of a second "debate".

He's naturally confrontational, so it would seem out of character to avoid a confrontation. What makes this one different from all others before? The first "debate" was the first time in his life that even the people he keeps closest to him, the people he picked out for the specific purpose of never doing this, have been telling him that he blew it. Avoiding another "debate" is avoiding having to hear them say the same again.

And changing anything else about his campaign now would be admitting himself that he's been blowing it.

He actually listened to the advice of others when he gave teleprompter speeches and Fox rejoiced because he was acting all 'presidential'. (Except for the times when it revealed that his reading ability is below par or he didn't know how to pronounce words like 'Yosemites'.)
So there's teleprompter Trump and the rambling lunatic that his fans enjoy, but in a debate teleprompter Trump is not an option.

Here you go Republican holdouts:

CNN Business: Goldman Sachs: A Democratic sweep would mean faster economic recovery

Here you go Republican holdouts:

CNN Business: Goldman Sachs: A Democratic sweep would mean faster economic recovery

President Donald Trump is once again warning voters that Democrats would "shut our economy and jobs down" if they win in November.

Goldman Sachs is telling its clients the exact opposite.
Just hours after Trump's all-caps Monday morning tweet predicting economic disaster, Goldman economists pointed out that polls "suggest a 'blue wave' in which Democrats gain unified control of Washington is becoming more likely" -- and they're not suggesting investors dump stocks.

In fact, "all else equal, such a blue wave would likely prompt us to upgrade our forecasts," Goldman Sachs chief economist Jan Hatzius wrote in a Monday report.

It's true that if Democrats sweep into power early next year, it would likely translate to higher taxes and regulation. Such a reversal from the Trump agenda could eat into corporate profits and the earnings for affluent families.
But Joe Biden is also promising a bonanza of government spending that, coupled with extremely low interest rates, would likely speed up the economy.

Goldman Sachs wrote that a blue wave would "sharply raise the probability" of a fiscal stimulus package of at least $2 trillion shortly after the January 20 inauguration. The bank also cited Biden's longer-term spending plans on infrastructure, climate, health care and education.

Taken together, this spending "would at least match the likely longer-term tax increases on corporations and upper-income earnings," Goldman Sachs wrote.
"It would likely result in substantially easier US fiscal policy, a reduced risk of renewed trade escalation, and a firmer global growth outlook," the report said.

Then there is this:
Moody's: 7.4 million more jobs under Biden's plan
Goldman Sachs isn't the only Wall Street firm to point out the positive benefits of a blue wave.

Moody's Analytics found that Biden's economic proposals, if enacted, would create 7.4 million more jobs than would Trump's. The economy would return to full employment in the second half of 2022, nearly two years earlier than under Trump's plan, Moody's said.

"The economic outlook is strongest under the scenario in which Biden and the Democrats sweep Congress and fully adopt their economic agenda," wrote Moody's economists led by Mark Zandi, who advised Senator John McCain during the 2008 presidential race.
