Trump has 3 clear agendas.
1. We’ve known for a long time that come hell or high water, truth or lies, Trump was going to roll out a miracle drug before Election Day to convince the electorate that covid-19 was cured and that he cured it. He first tried to sell hydroxychloroquine but that was a dreadful failure that he eventually had to quietly bury. For months he then turned to the more scientific approach of pushing a vaccine, but it became clear that the medical experts, despite all the pressure and threats he was exerting, were not going to short change the safety requirements, nor was it scientifically possible to roll out a vaccine prior to the election. So now he is trying to huckster passive immunity cocktails (eg Regeneron’s product) with a breathy personal testimony just like a late night infomercia. Ignoring that the drug’s safety and effectiveness have not been fully tested, it would require compassionate use approval, there is no evidence it actually helped Trump, and it will require months to produce and distribute enough doses to treat all the patients he is promising it to.
Even better, he claims that he put himself at personal risk to prove this miracle drug, a gift from god (and Trump).
2. He has been cured by the drug and now can do rallies and “the people’s business.”
3. He is a Superman because he beat covid-19 in a one to one death match. No mere mortal could. Yes of course this contradicts (1) but a glaring contradiction has never bothered Trump.
