And that includes the stupid EU travel ban, where entire countries were exempted. Like the UK. So anyone really wanting to go to the US from EU, could just go through the UK with zero problems on arrival. Great travel ban!

There's a reason the WHO recommends against travel bans. There is no evidence they work (with the exception of island nations). The measures Trump lost the ball on were preparedness and testing/contact tracing. He also screwed up PPE and ventilator access/supplies/distribution after the fact.

Trump has compared himself to Churchill. Way before the Covid-19 epidemic I was rereading some of Churchill’s famous WW2 speeches and what most impressed me was how straightforward, truthful, and not candy coated his speeches where. They were not empty promises of how wonderful the war was going for Britain. They told of the current dire circumstances and the awful dangers to come. Blood, sweat, and tears. But they rallied the public to come together and expressed the faith that the current dangers could be overcome if people remained calm, stayed united, and fought back. They inspired without ignoring the truth. By uniting, not dividing, the country.

Pretty much the anti-Trump.

Apparently Trump will not be self-isolating. It will be everyone else's responsibly to wear full PPEs when in the presence of the super-spreader-in-chief because he wants to look like a he-man. Or look like Mussolini.

He didn't, he restricted some travel from China, and he only introduced the "ban" after the airlines had stopped flying to and from China. So yeah, he jumped out behind the parade and pretended to lead it.

And then later when there was a spike on the East coast from people returning from Europe, what did he do? Waited a full two weeks before announcing another partial restriction, thus funnelling hundreds of thousands of potential carriers through places like New York. And his partial ban didn't even cover the worst suffering European country, the UK, because he wanted to stick it to the EU.

And what did he do in Florida, boyo? Oh, yeah he encouraged and facilitated the state governor in keeping Florida open during spring break, thus both worsening the outbreak happening in the state and spreading Covid far and wide to states that were actually looking like they had a handle on it until the mass of infected students arrived back from Florida.

But, then again, facts mean nothing to you and your ilk.

Undermining trust in the proven rules, undercutting governors who were trying to implement self isolation, masks, and social distancing rules, telling his followers, including armed followers, to flout and oppose the rules implanted by governors, etc, etc. He still is! Biden at minimum would have encouraged, not undermined, the correct policies.

I’m done! All this has been put forward in multiple threads; no reason to endlessly repeat these documented corrections of invented Republican talking points.

Travel bans were put in place early on Europe as well specifically for that reason. Surely you don't believe the concept of changing planes was foreign to the administration.

The problem New York city had was largely due to poor management of local and state government. Of course you had prominent leaders of the Democratic party calling Trump "xenophobic and racist" regarding to his travel bans. There were even "Hug a Chinese person" events sponsored where people on the street could hug a Chinese person to prove they weren't racist. You wanna guess how that played out?

And let's not forget Nancy Pelosi's "Come to Chinatown" event.

It's extremely important to point out the steps that were taken by President Trump early on. It's also important to note what the other side was saying about those steps early on. The difference is in lives saved versus lives lost.

I'm sure if one life was saved due to his early actions the President would consider being called "xenophobic" and "racist" a small price to pay.

But he didn't save lives. People died. A lot of people. Are still dying.
