Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

Free beer tomorrow.

I'll believe it when I see it, but this is classic Trump. Impulsive. Unplanned. He got the disease. He thinks this drug cured him. He wants to be the great guy and give it to everyone. Yay, Trump!

I would love the idea of government paying for effective treatments. That kind of limited single-payer health care would be a great step forward in a truly important fight, but I'd like to get some evaluation by people in the know, rather than one single case where it might have been effective, judged by the patient himself. So, good on him for proposing it. Seriously. Let's give credit where credit is due. Whether his motives are pure or not, he is proposing providing a treatment he believes to be effective at taxpayer expense. This is a great idea, but let's get confirmation from the scientists first, and get an actual plan together.

Too bad the infectious idiot in chief didn't first promote safety protocols as a preventative. Now we have an economy that is annihilated, as well as 215,000+ fellow Americans, with many more to follow, in addition to the long lasting physical and neurological difficulties the recovered will have to endure

So yeah, the idiot gets a gold star if he helps provide a therapeutic for a virus his considerable ineptitude help spread, I guess.

The head of White House security office, Crede Bailey, is gravely ill with coronavirus and has been hospitalized since late September, I'm told. Security office handles credentialing for access to WH; works closely with Secret Service on security measures on the compound.

Could he have been patient zero?

Bloomberg: White House Security Official Contracted Covid-19 in September
The White House has not publicly disclosed Bailey’s illness. He became sick before the Sept. 26 Rose Garden event President Donald Trump held to announce his Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett that has been connected to more than a dozen cases of the disease.

A White House spokesman declined to comment on Bailey.

Here's more from a not paywalled source: The Hill:
According to Bloomberg, which cited four sources familiar with official’s condition, Bailey grew sick before the Rose Garden event held on Sept. 26, in which President Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Since that event, more than 10 attendees — including the president, first lady Melania Trump and adviser Kellyanne Conway — have tested positive for the disease. However, the White House is not contact tracing attendees of the event, according to a report from The New York Times, which cited an unnamed White House official for its coverage earlier this week.
I'd like to see where Hope Hick's infection fit in here.

White House adviser Hope Hicks was also confirmed to have positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, shortly before it was discovered the president and the first lady had also been diagnosed with the disease.

I'll keep looking.

Hey guys, please. I’m at least as guilty as anyone else but we are allowing ourselves to get distracted by classic trolling methods. This thread is about Trump and Melania being infected by covid-19 and their response (or lack of one) to it.

With all respect the dreadful Trump administration’s actions in other areas are all discussed in other threads. By being lured into other topics here we are expending our energies reiterating points already established in these other threads and not on the OP.

All in my humble opinion, and recognizing I have been caught up in it myself.

Apologies if you disagree!

Let's be honest. Since Trump is now out of the hospital this and the politics/ COVID thread are pretty much about the same thing.

ABC
The coronavirus outbreak has now infected "34 White House staffers and other contacts" in recent days, according to an internal government memo, an indication that the disease has spread among more people than previously known in the seat of American government. ...

Dated Wednesday and obtained by ABC News, the memo was distributed among senior leadership at FEMA, a branch of the Department of Homeland Security and the agency responsible for managing the continuing national response to the public health disaster.

Still haven't found his duties or whether of not he had contact with Hope Hicks before she developed symptoms. Maybe someone else can.

No, just no. Anything related to the covid outbreak in the WH and Trump's all-caps, high on dex posting is quite different from all the other issues in the campaign.

Please don't conflate all that with this thread. Thanks.

Trump video claims he wants everyone to receive the same treatment he did. Will make "Regeneron" available free of charge.

He also said anyone who needs a test can get a test in March. He also said the virus was a hoax. He also said the virus would just go away. He also said he had a plan to address pre-existing conditions if the ACA goes away.

Being as the stupid bitch is still sick, why wouldn't we wait to at least see if it had any impact on his condition? I would never take a medication based only on what Trump or one of his Trumptrash said.

Trump hosts and presides over a Superspreadde event, and someone wants to make an argument that Trump has a good handle on the virus?

Perhaps screaming into the camera "Oh Gawd! We're all gonna die!" would have been a better message to the American people? Come on, you know the drill. Inspire hope and downplay fear. I wouldn't want a leader to do any less.

You do realize there is a middle ground between "We're all gonna die!" and "It'll soon go away. Like a miracle it will just disappear", right?

Leaders in other countries around the world have kept their populace up to date on the virus situation from day one. They've been up front with what was happening and what scientists were thinking was going to happen.

And guess what? No panic. Not in a single one of those countries.

Are americans really that fragile?

He should have learned from his betters, the leaders of the other industrialized democracies. They neither lied to their people nor did they tell everyone they were going to die. Instead because of Trump's incompetence and stupidity, he allowed what happened during the second weekend of March which was massive panic buying verging on food riots.

Now the stupid bitch has no credibility and he's trying to push a vaccine before it's ready and no one believes him. His murderous stupidity will likely prevent people from taking the vaccine even if it actually is safe and effective. The dumb **** could have tried to learn from those with superior leadership to his but he chose to remain a failure.

This.

Exactly, Biden would have followed the WHO and not restricted travel. Here would have began the loss of life greater than we already have. It's good to see you get it.

No, he would have followed the advice of the medical experts just like Obama and he did for the H1N1 epidemic in 2009.

By the way, I'm still waiting for you to name one hate group/white supremacy group that has endorsed Biden considering these hate groups have all endorsed Trump:

The Proud Boys
The KKK
The American Freedom Party
The American Nazi Party
ACT for America
Andrew Anglin, (who runs the Daily Stormer)

The USA is number 10 in the world on deaths per capita. Worse than, say, Italy, Sweden. More than 4.5 times the world average.

That's if you include micro nations, where even a half dozen deaths would put you high up on the list. San Marino has 42 deaths, making it top the list of worst hit countries.

If you take out the micro nations, USA is at number 8.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dan and the entire Marino family.

Wasn't President Trump recently crowing about how badly New Zealand was doing ?

Not long ago he told Americans not to go to Norway, because we were being overwhelmed by the corona virus.

It's a safe thing to say, because we're not letting Americans in anyway.

And most of those cases are probably incoming travelers tested positive at airports.
