Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

Your post made me dig into this. Pretty fascinating and disgusting. But there was a reality that despite the marketing, there were serious concerns about smoking for a long time.

I found these two articles quite interesting.

“The public was becoming increasingly worried about the health consequences of cigarettes. They started to refer to cigarettes as coffin nails and started talking about smoker’s cough and smoker’s hack. The companies saw a threat to their success and business model.”

Executives at tobacco companies knew they had to take action to suppress the public’s fears about tobacco products. “Tobacco companies asked themselves: How can we go about reassuring the public that particularly cigarettes, but also cigars and pipes, are not harmful?” Jackler told HemOnc Today. The answer was to use medical research and physicians to show the public that cigarettes were not harmful. Although the doctors in these advertisements were always actors and not real physicians, the image of the physician permeated cigarette ads for the next two and a half decades.

IN 1946, THE RJ REYNOLDS Tobacco Company initiated a major new advertising campaign for Camels, one of the most popular brands in the United States. Working to establish dominance in a highly competitive market, Reynolds centered their new campaign on
the memorable slogan, “More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette.” This phrase would be the mainstay of their advertising for the next 6 years. Touting surveys conducted by “three leading independent research organizations,” one typical advertisement proclaimed that according to “nationwide” surveys of 113597 doctors “from every branch of medicine,” Camel was the brand smoked by most respondents. It also asserted that this statistic was an “actual fact,” not a “casual claim.”
In reality, this “independent” surveying was conducted by RJ Reynolds’s advertising agency, the William Esty Company, whose employees questioned physicians about their smoking habits at medical conferences and in their offices. It appears that most doctors were surveyed about their cigarette brand of choice just after being provided complimentary cartons of Camels.

Trumps new 'alive and kicking' video blames China for covid all over the world and he threatened to "make them pay". Yes.

January 22. “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”...

One of the things this forum could do with is an award for post of the month. We have a language one, but yours isn't ideal for that, because you didn't think it up, it's quoting Trump, but it's a work of genius, just the same.

What it is, is a great resource, well compiled - at, I imagine, a fair expense of time - documenting most of the truly insane things Trump has said so far on Covid.

Excellent effort, thanks - and stolen to use elsewhere!

Donald Trump is in need of serious medical help.

The president recently responded to a tweet with the following message:
Wow!!! NOW DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, THE BIGGEST OF ALL POLITICAL SCANDALS (IN HISTORY)!!! BIDEN, OBAMA AND CROOKED HILLARY LED THIS TREASONOUS PLOT!!! BIDEN SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO RUN - GOT CAUGHT!!!
The strangest part of all? The tweet that triggered all of this was from January of 2018.

Trying to get back on topic: Giuliani's last test came back negative so despite the fact he has symptoms, despite the fact testing proved totally inadequate to prevent the superspreader event(s), despite the experts say even the nasal test can have false negatives, and despite the fact Giuliani is still well within the recommended quarantine period, he ran off to a maskless face to face fund raiser last night.

I love the irony he couldn't get through a sentence without being interrupted by his cough in a recent tv interview.

Me, having covid (cough, cough). I don’t think (cough, cough, cough) so. We will (cough, cough, cough) have to be tested (cough) to (cough) find out ( cough, cough, cough, cough, cough).

I heard some really good news out of the White House. Aides are telling reporters that Trump is having trouble breathing again. This is a most excellent development. It would be just perfect if Trump were in the ICU instead of at the debate.

Regeneron stock jumped more than 14 points in after hours trading in the minutes after the president posted his video calling its experimental antibodies a cure.

Which members of the president’s inner circle profited from inside knowledge that the president was about to publish a video promo for Regeneron?

Could be he came off the steroids. I thought the dex was a 5 day course of treatment.

My experience with steroids says you taper them off, not stop them abruptly.

Apparently Trump now feels it was a blessing from God to have caught covid-19:

Yes the guy is now even more dangerously crazy than ever.mmPlease have him called out by the 25 amendment, please.

I think if God was involved it was a near miss (but I do know the George Carlin routine on near misses vs near hits).

Yaweh dialed up Satan and informed him that He was sending Trump to the burning basement. Satan said "**** that" and told Yaweh that if He wasn't careful, he would send up Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu to harangue the heavenly multitude for all eternity.

They agreed to disagree, and thus, Trump survives.

It is being said that Trump's weird Oompa Loompa appearance in the video he just posted is a side effect of the dexamethasone.
Does anyone know if this is right?

Yes - the side effects include swelling (note this is for the oral tablets). I know Prednisone made me puffy when I took it.

I don't know about the effects when given IV.

Are Americans really so fragile that they have to have the truth hidden from them to not panic? Personally I had expected more from them, but I guess from what you are saying that I was wrong.

You know... I'm reminded of "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

In context.

After all, that claim of others not being able to handle the truth is an arrogant falsehood that's being used to try to defend wrongdoing that got Americans killed - intentionally.

Americans are not so fragile. All Chris is doing is throwing crap around - much of it that has been shown to be worthless before - either as a troll or as someone who is simply demonstrating that they can't handle a different truth, because the truth would be devastating to the worldview that they've built up after too much exposure to right-wing lies and spin.

Trump video claims he wants everyone to receive the same treatment he did. Will make "Regeneron" available free of charge.
