He's a Republican who tells them the things they want to hear- as a Repub, he's a member of the "conservative" club, and that makes him an honorary Southerner. At one time, about fifty years ago, he would have been a Democrat, when they were the conservatives for the South; the Southern Strategy put an end to that.

And all those sins are between him and Jesus, who has forgiven him, so what business is it of theirs? That sort of rationalizing never seems to work for, say, Bill or Hilary, but that's why it's called rationalizing- if nothing else, it's selective.

It helps too that he's as big, if not a bigger, a racist as they are. And that he hates the same people they do (though currently both he and they are pretending to like Jewish people).

The Associated Press reported that more than 8,000 Chinese and foreign nationals based in those territories entered the U.S. in the first three months after the travel restrictions were imposed.

Additionally, more than 27,000 Americans returned from mainland China in the first month after the restrictions took effect. U.S. officials lost track of more than 1,600 of them who were supposed to be monitored for virus exposure.

Well it's not great that you have to go back 9 months to find something that he's done to effectively combat Covid. And even worse often it's the only thing that people can point to.

But anyway nobody is blaming him for Covid, they're angry at his lackluster and dismissive response to it.

Then there were the stories of how, on return, many of the people underwent absolutely no screening or restrictions of any kind - and, when it came to cases like a cruise ship that had lots of cases, the Trump Administration incentivized NOT getting tested.

If we didn't have a spectacularly inept and sociopathic president, and a significant percentage of the population didn't consist of backwards, fact-challenged cultists, the economy would have opened up to a far greater extent. Like Canada and the many other countries not burdened by these liabilities. Countries that quite sensibly deny Americans entry.

I think you're (excuse the black humor), dead wrong. In fact, I believe the best way to win this election is focus on COVID and our insane leader. One may not blame Trump for the virus itself, but one can blame him for his incompetent and reckless response.

Even today, Trump has no national policy to deal with COVID. In fact he's been undermining any intelligent response. He called it a hoax many times. He said it would just go away. He has said other unbelievably stupid things like people should take drugs that don't work. That people should drink bleach. He ignores, even contradicts recommendations by the CDC. He pulls out of the WHO because his feelings were hurt. He held rallies where no one wore masks including him. His campaign staff removed stickers encouraging social distancing at arenas for his rallies. He packed his supporters in tight areas. He mocks others for wearing masks. Leadership starts with the leader and people have followed. Some to their deaths.
