Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

Trump is on steroids, so of course he feels okay.
He is deathly afraid of hospitals, and probably paranoid that Pence will invoke the 25th (which is why Pence is being sent away on Campaign), so naturally he wants to get back to the White House.

If Trump really gets himself released from Walter Reid in the next day or say, I expect him to have a relapse that will require another hospital stay.
I think all of that is true plus, he wants out because he sees the stock market depends on it and economic recovery at any cost has been his functioning model since the pandemic started. If he does relapse he'll do everything he can not to go back to the hospital.

Re Trump's little joy ride to see his adoring masses, he might as well have waved a his middle finger at the 210,000 families who said their last goodbyes on a video screen.

And that's getting less attention than the fact (also important) he endangered the secret service personnel in the vehicle.

Her entire world view was based on the idea that she could treat this lesser person anyway she wanted with no reprisals but any attack on her was an unimaginable crossing of the line horror.

Yep, and this is why I've never bought in to the whole "violence is never the answer!" business.

Violence probably shouldn't be the first answer, but it very definitely should be an option. There are quite a few people out there who would act very differently if they really knew that an open-handed slap in the mouth was a realistic possible outcome of them acting like a **** bag to everyone around them.

Plus, ya know, Nazis.

"A virus is what we doctors call, very very small..."

Man I bet Trump is pissed that those 3 nobodies that discovered the Hep-C virus got the Nobel in Medicine last night with he's throwing out ground breaking medical insight like that.

Indeed. Wasn't there a guy in Afghanistan who was prescribing brilliant wonder cures for Covid made from herbal medicine combined with prayer. People who went to him felt better almost instantly, got up from their gurneys and were pirouetting their way home and saying, "Yaaah booo! Stupid Western doctors know nothing! They should use put their faith in Allah and his natural herbal goodness!" etc... etc...

Of course, it turned out that the herbal remedies were made of opium and they felt better because they were effectively off their faces on smack.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if this is what Trump is going through now.

A few days ago, I described how a Danish acupuncturist pretended to cure his patients' pain using needles only but actually injected them with cortisone (similar to prednisone). His patients all became firm believers in acupuncture until his (very unhealthy!) fraud was exposed.
It would be ... interesting to see Trump debate Biden while on this drug.

Back to covid-19 and Trump’s physicians. How is it that Trump is able to turn the people around him into such quivering cronies? Even his physician? IMHO it relates to the old saying that first class people hire first class people; second class people hire third class people. Add to that to how intimidating Trump can be on rabid rant, as exhibited in his debate with Biden, and you end up with a person elevated beyond their skill level whose job is dependent on a sociopath. If the boss told me not to mention their high fever I would probably find ways to avoid mentioning it.

[edit] to be fair I apologize for being too hard on the doctor. His skill level as a doctor is probably okay. But as JoeMorgue points out, he is suddenly surrounded by all the glitz and power of the Presidency. He is not just a doctor. He is part of the administration of the most powerful entity on the planet.

Because at the end of the day the Office of President, no matter how much Trump has tainted it, carries with it an amazing amount of power and influence.

Nobody wants to the Doctor when the President dies on your watch, regardless of anything and everything else.

I'm glad you brought that up, dann. Yes, this glee at Trump's misery and active wishing for his death is actually a perfect example of a normal human reaction which I dubbed "situaltional callousness," in your "Why do people rape other people?" thread. I don't believe that most people here are sociopaths who lack empathy or regard for everyone. They are expressing a lack of empathy (callousness) for one particular person or group of people in a certain situation.

I completely understand it even if I think it's unseemly and hypocritical. It's normal human behavior.

I don't know what you are trying to express, but in Trump's case his illness and the illnesses of people around him are the direct result of his own bad judgment. His lies and negligence have killed over 200,000 people. I feel about him pretty much like I would feel about an arsonist who gets trapped in his own fire. I hope the fire department gets lost on the way.

Well .. decent doctor might object. And objecting doctor simply wont be treating the best person in the world. Decent doctor might also be glad he doesn't have to.

It's not that hard to understand. As president, he has the power to destroy these people's careers, and as Trump, he has clearly shown that he is sufficiently petty that he will destroy their careers (See: Lt.Col. Vindman).

How many people would toss away decades of their career to contradict a guy like Trump, when they know reality will soon show he was wrong, anyways? Just say the words, and let the universe punish him later.

But it's still a pity that nobody has dared make a stand against him, confronted him openly on TV. A guy like Fauci could have made a difference by doing so at one of the press briefings. He could have made it obvious to all the other government officials that you don't risk more than losing your job. Many lost their jobs anyway, so they might as well have gone out in a blaze of glory and earned the admiration of the whole nation (or about 60%).

Also small point of reference making COVID worse wasn't something Trump was doing. It's still happening. It hasn't changed yet.

The arsonist didn't start the fire and got trapped in it, he's still gleefully splashing the gasoline around.

Doctors are better placed than most people to find other jobs. The White House physician is a career military officer; he could get another assignment if he wanted. What comes through from a lot of Trump enablers is that they think, rightly or not, that they are serving their country by keeping things from getting worse, and that whoever would replace them will be worse. And that is generally true, if you think of the mindless toadies who have replaced the crowd that used to be called "the adults in the room:" Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, etc.

We need more levels of capital letters. Because he clearly run out.

Be fair. "MAKING IT GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE" deserves capitalization because it shows that he's going beyond what he promised. This isn't MAGA. It's MAGTEB.
