Who will Biden choose as running mate?

Who will Biden choose as running mate?

  • Total voters
    48
  • Poll closed .
Ah, starting a post with "Lol" a sure sign of a pathetic edgelord attempt

do some of you really like Kamala Harris?
Yes. Why not? Not everyone is as terrified by capable women as your Molester in Chief..

Didn't she bomb the debates
No.

and lack charisma,
No.
And seriously compared to the Tantrump and Pence? A boiled turnip has more charisma.

plus being an establishment democrat?
Awww, the new insult is "establishment democrat", a silly attempt to appeal to Saunders fans.

Did she needing to ride a bus as a kid resonate with you? lol.
Firstly grammar: "she needing"? Seriously... "Did her needing". Try and understand the correct English language usage of pronouns.

And secondly, what's with the pathetic "ride the bus" slur-attempt? Not everyone is as terrified by the concept of publish transport as you.

Some details about the selection process in the NYT: the four finalists were (rather unsurprisingly) Harris, Warren, Whitmer and Rice.

Ms. Harris was one of four finalists for the job, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Susan E. Rice, the former national security adviser. But in the eyes of Mr. Biden and his advisers, Ms. Harris alone covered every one of their essential political needs.

Ms. Rice had sterling foreign-policy credentials and a history of working with Mr. Biden, but was inexperienced as a candidate. Ms. Warren had an enthusiastic following and became a trusted adviser to Mr. Biden on economic matters, but she represented neither generational nor racial diversity. Ms. Whitmer, a moderate, appealed to Mr. Biden’s political and ideological instincts, but selecting her also would have yielded an all-white ticket.

Other candidates rose and faded in the process: Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois powerfully impressed Mr. Biden’s search team, but his lawyers feared she would face challenges to her eligibility because of the circumstances of her birth overseas. Representative Karen Bass of California emerged as a favorite among elected officials and progressives — Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke glowingly of her to Mr. Biden — but the relationship-focused Mr. Biden barely knew her.

The Trumpanzees are morons that can't keep from contradicting themselves. They're calling her a moderate, establishment democrat and a far-left, extreme progressive. Next, they'll call her a violent pacifist.

Throw everything, anything against her and see what gets some kind of traction. Whatever gets retweeted most will be the chosen insults, regardless of whether they're factually correct or mutually contradictory.

Yes, that's what they are doing.

They've been doing the same thing with Biden for months, without much success (for now).

A competent Trump campaign would (by now) have both a clear message about what Trump-Pence is about, and why Biden-Harris is bad. The have neither (again for now).

This is indeed amazing.

All the Trump campaign, Fox, and more in general the Trumpist voices on the Interwebs have is:
- birtherism
- she's a cop who also wants to abolish the police
- she has a shrill voice
- she's condescending (don't know what they mean by that, maybe that she talks in full grammatically correct sentences)
- she's a slut
- she's against cows (really, not making this up)

Even on our forum, the best you get from Trump supporters are quips.

The Trump campaign really hoped for Bass, Warren or Rice.

It reads like they were expecting Sanders to win the primary, and to pick Warren or AOC or something (never mind that AOC is too young) as his VP...and then just sat there as the easily predictable Biden won, and picked Harris. And only now are they rolling out their preplanned Sanders/Warren insults, only they don't work at all.

And so we've got a flailing response. Biden's going to beat up God like a Japanese RPG character, he created the crime bil to fund cops. Kamala *is* a cop. Uh, they hate cops, too! Er, birtherism - she's not black, her father's Jamaican. Hey N...uh, black people, she has a slaveowner in her distant family. Isn't that shocking? ...It's not? Uh, er...

Lol, do some of you really like Kamala Harris?

She's by far the most charismatic person on the two major tickets, as far as I care. Pretty much got robbed by complete lack of coverage last year, and I'm not a Bernie Bro, so "establishment dem" is just whining as far as I care. Her record as DA is pretty much exactly what I want to see - less money dumped into the police department, far more diversion to social services, simple weed possession completely ignored. She was basically doing exactly what people are out marching for now, 10-12 years ago.

She's also going to simply walk up and eat Pence's lunch in their debate, which is the only one I look forward to - I doubt Biden will be able to goad Dolt 45 into days-long sputtering tweetstorms the way Clinton did four years ago.

I thought the message was Biden-Harris = "high taxes, n-words moving into your neighbourhood and having to learn Chinese"

Trump-Pence = "God, guns, freedom and economic growth"

Agree with most of this: they really hoped for Sanders, or at least Warren/Bass as VP.

I hope you are right about that Harris Pence debate. Don't underestimate Pence.

I know we disagree on this point, but these messages are totally made for the Trump base.

Now maybe that's enough, taking into account USPS shenanigans, other voter suppression tactics, and Barr's October "surprise(s)".

But it's a gamble a competent campaign wouldn't solely rely on. They had months to prepare for Biden-Harris, and all they have is generic BS (and vile racism).

I don't think that the Republican Party is even attempting to convince Democrats, Democrat-leaning Independents or "true" Independents.

They may be trying to talk to groups like suburban white women who would usually vote GOP but may chose to vote Democrat or not vote.

They're certainly trying to encourage/scare the 40% to 45% who support the GOP regardless to get out and vote.

I still think that President Trump has a greater than 50% chance of reelection. I think he will lose the popular vote by a huge margin.

I think there will be a lot of court battles over the results. AIUI Republican state legislatures could ensure that EC votes are cast for Trump, even if he loses the poll.

Attacking them on specific policies tends not to work because Americans actually support most of the "liberal" policies they vote against when they vote Republican.

lol tags! What an appropriate way to frame this infantile neenering.

They certainly planned to convince enough Independents and suburban white women, using the strong economy as argument. They lost that through Trump's mismanagement of the pandemic.

Now they have to play defence and consolidate the base.

Sadly a plausible scenario.

Well yes, that's why they hoped for Sanders and/or Warren on the ticket.

While the standard Biden-Harris policies are, as you say, quite popular, Sanders and Warren at least offered them the option to campaign against "communism". (*)

(*) Just to be clear, I'm not saying that Sanders and Warren are communists, or even that their proposals are ridiculously leftist, just that the public perception of them allows for that sort of campaigning. Doesn't work with Biden and Harris.

Its odd, though, because they seemed to be planning for Biden with the whole "Hunter in Ukraine" bit that got the President impeached. I thought it odd at the time since Biden was doing so poorly early in the primaries. But, yeah, now they are acting like a chicken with the head cut off.

That last one has my me scratching my head. Damn near every black person in this hemisphere with ancestry that goes back to the 19th century probably has slaveowners in their distant family as systemic rape of female slaves was the norm. Do they not grasp this? Its not like it is some hidden secret of history. Watch Roots for *******'s sake.

Right, I had forgotten that. And I suspect Barr will mangle whatever report he finds so it sounds bad, despite having nothing - I hope they're ready for that. But clearly, the campaign itself had no "plan B", and didn't bother finding one in any case. Even the whole "Biden's got dementia" thing they lifted off of the Bernie Bros looks absurd when you watch Dolt 45 get interviewed seriously.

I remember when Oprah Winfrey went on Prof. Gates' ancestry program - it was a shock when they didn't find any white ancestry in her analysis (and this includes an examination of birth records and of census records, not just genetic analysis). But yeah, D'Souza (who previously wrote The American slave was treated like property, which is to say, pretty well") only managed to piss black Americans off, and of course Dolt 45's muppet reject son leapt right to it.
