Famous people with Covid-19

I posted this earlier in the Biden pick thread - WWF and E fans might remember the Ugandan Giant, Kamala.

Actually originally from Mississippi, James ‘Kamala’ Harris died on 9 August having tested positive for Covid. He had previously had severe complications from diabetes resulting in both of his legs being amputated below the knee.

What else was the point of the post, then, if not to diminish the significance of the deaths by noting that those that died were predominately over the age of 60?

The point could be mere information. Or it could refer to the relative “fame” of those people among different generations. Or it could indicate that the age range of deaths among “famous” people is similar to that in the population at large.

Or it could be, as you suggest, an attempt to diminish the significance of the deaths of “famous” people. As you believe that is the case would you personally consider the deaths of “famous” people to be of more, less, or equal significance compared to all COVID-19 deaths?

I love the way people here read things that don't exist into a simple, factual post. Damn shame Randi's mio isn't up any more, there are quite a few people could try out their clairvoyance skills on my posts.

Early in the pandemic I was accused of wanting to see mass deaths because I was posting a lot of factual information in the vacuum that existed at that stage.

At least it's moved on to only wanting the old to die.

Interesting, though of course the age profile of famous people is probably skewed towards the upper end.

Old farts like me have a lot of trouble recognizing young celebrities. Not uncommon for my 18 yo daughter to start talking about musicians I have never heard of. I have become my parents.

Your parents thought the music you listened to was "noise" though, and you thought theirs was lame and boring. For the most part, that has completely changed.
