John Bolton, one of the dumbest people I’ve met in government and sadly, I’ve met plenty, states often that I respected, and even trusted, Vladimir Putin of Russia more than those in our Intelligence Agencies. While of course that is not true, if the first people you met from....
So, Donny, why did you hire him? Hiring the dumbest person around kinda makes you dumber than he is.

You guys stealing my good lines really puts a crimp in my shorts. :)

Speaking of projection, he's already accused her of telling multiple lies. He's also mispronounced her name twice that I've heard. He's either stupid or incredibly childish. Oh, wait....my bad. He's both.

I remember the first time I saw her, on a talk show a few years ago. She had to say how her name is pronounced "Ka-ma-la. Just think 'comma, law'."

If I had the news on in the next few days as often as I normally do, I'm sure I'd be hearing it thousands of times. As it is, I'm going to be doing something else (unless something really newsworthy pops up, of course.)

If Trump doesn't know how to pronounce her name by now, like I said, he's either incredibly stupid or childish or both. My money is on both because that's what he's shown us he is.

What are the odds that Trump will dump Pence and bring on Nikki Haley or any other woman who will run with him? There must be somebody. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't put it past him either.

Zero. He'd come off looking desperate.

Of course it would, but that wouldn't stop him. In fact, he put Pence in charge of the COVID task force and it's only a matter of time before Trump throws him under the bus, claiming Pence did a horrible job.

No kidding. “Dumbest guy i ever met” is his National Security Advisor. Only the best people!

Best people to put in the position... for whose sake? Not the US citizens.

Earlier Trump tweeted "Big Stock Market Numbers!"

He should have waited till the end of the day. All three indexes down.

Mmm. For people who aren't paying attention to that and only see the tweet, it's not likely to matter.

I wonder if the "choosing a non-white female as VP is illegal" maneuver we've seen here on the forums.

Oh? It's actually spread from Tucker into actual usage here, then?

To poke some bits of news...

Trump’s Top Interior Lawyer Under Secretary Bernhardt Accused of Breaking the Law

To summarize rather succinctly, I'll borrow part of a quote. "Withholding public documents, filtering potentially incriminating communications, and then lying about it under oath."

Trump DOJ Argues Federal Judges Must Complete Bribery Transactions (Really)

The heart of the government’s argument was that under Rule 48(a) the judge must dismiss the case, as requested by the government, unless the defendant objects. This led to a series of hypotheticals from the ten inquisitive judges hearing the argument. I am paraphrasing, as I don’t have a transcript, but it went basically like this.

Judge: Okay, here’s the scenario. The Attorney General for the United States is in the court room. The judge sees the defendant’s lawyer walk over a suitcase full of money which he gives to the Attorney General. The AG checks the cash, and promptly stands up to request a dismissal of all charges against the defendant. Under your argument, is the judge then required to be a party to completing the quid pro quo bribery and dismiss the case as requested by the bribed Attorney General.

DOJ Attorney: [After some hemming and hawing] Yes.

Let that sink in. Your United States government just argued to judges that a judge must be complicit in bribery even if they personally observe the bribery. Per Trump’s DOJ the law requires the judge to participate in breaking the law and completing the offense.

Clearly it would be inappropriate to continue the case. The judge in common law traditions is not an inquisitor and cannot pursue the case on their own behalf. The correct response of the judge at this point is to suspend the hearings and report the AG to appropriate law enforcement and to the professional body with a view to a criminal investigation for bribery and disbarment. Continuing with a bribed lawyer arguing the prosecution is clearly not the correct outcome.

Breaking news in the "and they wonder why we think they're nuts category"....

Congressional Republicans came a step closer Tuesday to welcoming into their ranks a promoter of the QAnon conspiracy theory, whose adherents believe President Trump is battling a cabal of “deep state” saboteurs who worship Satan and traffic children for sex.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has endorsed the baseless theory and made a slew of other racist remarks on video, won a Republican primary runoff in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Her victory, in a northwestern swath of the state that has favored Republicans by wide margins, sets her up to become QAnon’s first devotee in Congress.

Greene, who owns a construction company jointly with her husband, defeated John Cowan, a neurosurgeon. She will face Democrat Kevin Van Ausdal, an IT specialist, in November.

You read that right. Those brilliant folks down in Georgia voted for a racist QAnon CTer over a neurosurgeon to be their rep in Congress.

At least Trump is happy:

"Congratulations to future Republican Star Marjorie Taylor Greene on a big Congressional primary win in Georgia against a very tough and smart opponent. Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up - a real WINNER!"

"The Squad" fend off weak primary challengers, achieve landslide victories.

AOC: 75% of the vote, challenger 18%
Tlaib: 66/34
Ilhan: 57/39

Despite money flowing in from the right to levy these primary challenges, landslide victories for these new progressive candidates.

If she makes it to Congress, and that's a BIG if as a loud-and-proud Q-nut, she will get shredded by all and sundry, and quietly told by her own party to get her ass back to...north-west Georgia, wasn't it?...and phone in sick from here on in.

Come on, it's not like voting for tax cuts and racism is brain surgery.

Given the recent voting history of Georgia's 14th CD (+/- 75% for the GOP candidate), I'm afraid she'll be elected.

GOP got rid of Steve King, and now they get this loony.

It is a very conservative district. The last article I read said it was a near certainty that she would win. I try to insulate myself from all things Georgia, so I can't comment any further.

Maybe people are realising that they have to vote if they want change.

Any numbers on turnout?

I'm not so sure. At first the Tea Party were considered fringe loonies, now they're the GOP mainstream. Then President Trump was thought to be a fringe outlier but the GOP now mirrors him perfectly. This could be the next logical step to secure another, largely white, voting bloc for the Republicans.

First the religious fundamentalists, then the Tea Party, then Trumpists now Qanon and after that, openly courting white supremacists (as opposed to relying on dog whistles).

Conservative does not actually have to be the same as crazy. But in USA politics it seems it often is.

I'm surprised he didn't do one of his usual Mad Libs Tweets.

"Congratulations to (Candidate Name) on a big primary win in (State). Strong on Crime, Borders, your Military and our Vets, we need (Candidate Name) in Washington badly. (His/Her) opponent is WEAK on Crime, Borders, and against your 2nd A."
