So we should only take protective measures for covid and nothing else?
You are in such denial. And I take it you are simply regurgitating right wing pseudo-science. The tragedy is this denial is being propagated for political reasons.

Sad

The "spreading" thing is the thing that you seem to be out of step with everyone else on. That's a really, really, important part of the argument, and it doesn't apply to heart attacks.

Compare it to the flu, but use real numbers instead of made up numbers. You already published the CDC numbers for flu. Use those, and compare outcomes to Covid.

Should they be forced to diet and exercise?
Because of the high number heart disease deaths many are not your only solution is telling them to diet and exercise.

Who said anything about forcing them?

You do realise that wearing a mask is to protect OTHER people, right? It doesn't protect YOU.

Trump is claiming the N95 masks were depleted under Obama for the 2009 flu and not replaced.

He's oblivious to the last 3.5 years when he could have replaced the stock.

Trump and his followers think they can just ignore it. People only getting mild cases, :words:

It was only a matter of time, a couple weeks, the case numbers rise, the hospitals begin to fill up, the increase in the death rate follows.

They're actually claiming since the death rate hasn't risen, all is well. Another week and they'll have to change the talking points memos.

Good luck with that.

You think Trump gives a rip about 'made in America'? Of course not, that's just lip service.

If there's a vaccine available anywhere, he's going to want two things: A vaccine for himself**, and something that will get the economy going before Nov.

**And maybe vaccine he can give cronies as a benefit for doing right by Trump.

Just watched a bit (couldn't take much more than that), of the Trump sycophant and denialists back to school meeting. Clearly they were all chosen because they have a favorable view of opening schools back up in the fall.

I posted this in the Sweden thread: Trump is claiming we've done reopening right, that's why we're better off than Sweden.

Trump also claimed Harvard not committing to opening in the fall showed their weakness, and he added "disgusting." So I guess if you don't go out and put yourself at needless risk that makes you a disgusting coward. Cadet Bone Spurs certainly knows that first hand. But this is not a military war.

In the meantime Trump tells people open the schools or else and DeVos denies the CDC guidelines are what they are.

It doesn't matter. Trump can't hide overflowing hospitals.

If I were to bet, I'd bet we see Trump melting down more and more in the coming weeks, maybe months.

It also suggests Trump and his flunkies don't understand how the reporting system works.

Trump ordering a change in this reporting system would (like a lot of stupid great ideas Trump has) cause nothing but confusion.

I'm required by law to report all notifiable conditions. It has nothing to do with the hospitals reporting certain data. I'm not sure who Trump thinks will be providing these results. I certainly haven't gotten any letters telling me to change how I would report notifiable conditions.

The corruption we don't see, (at least it's not in the news yet but I suspect it will be):

FB page of Heather Cox Richardson: Trump tied hospitals sending their COVID data to one of his cronies if they want to get any Remdesivir for their patients, literally.
We all know why, but here's something else:
So $10 million plus a bonus when the company goes public. This is why Trump has so much support from the GOP. Got a friend in need of a no-bid contract based on a promise rather than a history of providing that product or service? Go see Trump.

Kudos to Patty Murray, BTW.

Then there is the stick to make hospitals comply:

Also, they've already turned off the CDC page that was reporting the COVID data.

This one posted of a continuing discussion you guys are replying to one post as if it’s all have said!

And I’m sure none your posts here are politically motivated?

All of the posts you have taken the time to list are criticisms of specific actions -- or non-actions -- by Dear Leader, based on their consequences. Objections to bad judgment and bad conduct don't have to be politically motivated.

We never had shutdowns for the flu are anything else before covid but everyone acts as no one is dying from anything else

There was nothing in what you quoted to suggest political motivation.

“Politically motivated” is when you allow your party affiliation to determine your position on issues. What I see in those posts is someone using their position on the issues to decide which party they will support or oppose. This is the polar opposite of being politically motivated.

COVID-19 is significantly more infectious than the flu. Also, you are wrong on both counts, there were numerous cities that implemented “lockdowns” for the 1917 flu.

It doesn't matter that anybody is dying of anything else. This is a new, highly contagious disease, and its spread can be reduced by known, specific, relatively simple actions. And -- as has been explained to you -- death is not the only consequence of covid. Patients put enormous stress on an already overwhelmed health care system, and if they recover they can suffer long-term disabilities.

You seem to think covid should be ignored, life should go on as normal, and if one to two percent of the population dies, que sera sera. Others disagree. Life will not be "normal" for a long time.

Any other President who did what Trump has done would be equally subject to criticism -- except no other President would do what Trump has done.

You can tell that to Trump bot as much as you like, it won't get it.

I have covered this there hasn’t been enough time to determine long term disabilities why are none of the major news networks reporting on long term disabilities?
When searches they say the same thing just going by the world meter it’s 3% casualty rate and just confirmed cases also 92% of the deaths are people 55 and above

Multiple media sources have been reporting the long term effects. They may not get enough attention since people pay more mind to deaths, but that does not mean they are not covered.

Thank goodness nobody will have contact with anyone over 55, amiright? I mean, what’s an infection vector, anyway?

Is possible for you to with a more vague reply?

I’ll help you: even populations with lower risk of experiencing serious disease symptoms themselves can just as effectively be infected and infect others. So even kids can spread the virus and can infection populations with high risks of experiencing very serious or deadly disease, such as those over 55.

I presume in your other posts you weren’t dismissing the dangers of the disease because it primarily kills older people? I’ve seen that kind of argument by others - presumably those who are very young, think life after 30 is useless, and hate their parents and grandparents.
