Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 24

Honestly, he could have dropped the "Unlike the African American community" part and the quote would read a whole lot better.

Politicians tend to speak like they have to fill time rather than communicating directly and simply.
Yep. The right will put all emphasis on that introductory phrase and ignore the rest. Joe outta know better.

It does seem like sensationally bad timing to go after the NRA now, with the election looming, since there almost certainly will be a backlash like this.

I'm not sure. A strong (ha - f u, Trump) majority of Americans support better gun control laws so this might not play too badly across the whole country.

And if it can be asserted that the NRA was a conduit for that $30 million that they got from the Russians and gave to Trump, it will be a plus.

President @realDonaldTrump is laying out a vision to bring thousands more factories and millions more jobs back to American soil!

That's true. Don't let the fact that he has done Jack-**** in the last four years to make that happen dampen your enthusiasm.

Kind of operating on an assumption that there's no possibility for diversity of opinion in "the entire African American community" about what Biden said here, aren't you, Donnie?
Not that I have a finger on the pulse or anything, but I can see the entire African American community shrugging this off. I think most of them know which party courts the white supremacist vote. Most African Americans are not recent immigrants or descendants of recent immigrants. Their ancestors came to America longer ago, and their countries of origin are largely obscured by a broader shared history.

So while Biden's gaffe was in fact a gaffe, I don't think he's going to lose a significant portion of the African American vote.

Repub officials are helping get Kanye West on the ballot in swing states to draw votes from Biden:
The effort to get Kanye West on the ballot as a third-party candidate in several states is increasingly looking like an operation run by President Trump’s allies and Republican activists that is aimed at diverting votes from Joseph R. Biden Jr.

The move, which comes as Mr. West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, has said her husband is struggling with mental illness, underscores that this will be an unusual, and unusually bare-knuckled, presidential election.

I don't know if it was that much of a gaffe. He (or somebody for him) explained that he was referring to all the different places in the world that Hispanic Americans have come from. Hispanics themselves are often offended when others assume that they all sneaked across the Rio Grande from Mexico. Are black Americans really going to stay home because Biden didn't say "diversity?"?

Question: has Donnie stopped coloring his hair and laid off the burnt umber skin cream?
Or are more news items I see cribbing shooped pics from FoxNews?
Really... was there a change I completely missed a couple weeks ago?

No, I think they'll turn out for Joe.

There will be a few Trump voters but with Obama's backing most will vote for Biden.

In no particular order...

To borrow from a supposed GOP pollster - Everyone who would care is already voting for Trump.

Still, I think it's worth poking at the announcement.

AG Racine Sues NRA Foundation for Diverting Charitable Funds to Support Wasteful Spending by NRA and Its Executives

Lawsuit
OAG oversees nonprofit business activities in the District of Columbia. In its complaint, OAG alleges that the NRA Foundation’s trustees and officers violated the District’s Nonprofit Corporations Act by:

Allowing charitable funds to be used for non-charitable purposes: The Foundation failed to provide the oversight necessary to ensure that fees it paid the NRA were being used to support its charitable purposes. In fact, OAG’s investigation revealed that the NRA wasted fees paid by the Foundation on, for example, lavish consulting agreements with individuals who provided no discernible benefit to the Foundation and its charitable purposes.

Failing to uphold their fiduciary duty: Contrary to its fiduciary duties, the Foundation’s Board made financial decisions based on what was good for the NRA, not the Foundation. The Board approved multi-million-dollar loans to the NRA with the knowledge that the NRA had financial problems, and the Foundation might not be repaid. The Board also agreed to pay millions more in fees to the NRA without any apparent benefit to the Foundation.

Abandoning the Foundation’s charitable purpose: The Foundation awards national grants and sponsorships to organizations across the country that meet its charitable purpose. These programs are funded from contributions made to the Foundation. By approving the two loans and the increase in management fees to the NRA, the Foundation undermined its own ability to make grants between 2017 and 2019.

Placing the interests of the NRA above those of the Foundation: Under District law, the Foundation must have a Board of Trustees that acts independently and protects the Foundation’s interests. However, the NRA controls the election of Foundation trustees and the appointment of officers and there is significant overlap between the membership of the Foundation’s Board and the NRA’s Board. As a result, the majority of the Foundation’s board did whatever the NRA requested without question, investigation, or inquiry into the best interest of the Foundation. Trustees typically voted in favor of NRA demands, even when those demands harmed the Foundation.

More depth at the link, of course.

Nope. He was praying. The whole thing is full of doctored photos. AS usual, Trump is a lying SOB.

Thank you for beating me to it.

Yep. The tree-hugging, pacifist wussies that are ruthless and violent...

Conservatives - Liberals are overly emotional and squeamish and unwilling to do the hard, dirty things that need to be done for success.

Conservatives after being caught doing those dirty things - You hypocrites! Liberals do way more of this than we do! Unfair discrimination! Biased left-wing media!

He can't be that stupid, like he's never seen the word on paper before. He can't. Can he?

Whenever one finds oneself saying “Trump can’t possibly be that [descriptor], can he?” then the answer is almost always yes.

Where do you think President Trump might have seen the word on paper? He doesn’t read newspapers, blogs, books, magazines, intelligence briefings, debate preparation documents, G7 reports, Pentagon reports, etc, etc. (And no, I am not exaggerating.)

The man has never had a computer on his desk in his entire life. He is not a reader.
