Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 23

At some point he's going to need Congress to give him funds to keep the government running. I don't think he can get around that by signing decrees.
We're almost exactly 6 months from the inauguration of the next President (I would so ace that test online) : can he tie up Congress's right to not give him the money he demands in the courts that long? With the DoJ and DHS onside, if not encouraging him, he can go on an absolute rage for that time, and after that, well, who knows how things will stand by then?

Wonder if that will backfire on him with the 'I won't mask my freedom' types.

Not at all. They're well practiced in retconning.

Hey, remember when Trump wanted everybody to wear masks but Biden tried to ban them?

"NO," he said, "Not on my watch!" and then he saw a baby without a mask while he was patrolling a no-go area, and he tore off his shirt revealing his washboard abs to form a makeshift mask for the infant. Note: when doctors saw the shirt-mask, they were shocked at how a layperson could create such a perfect and advanced instrument. Naturally, he waived the patent rights.

A lot of people don't know the exact date. I usually couldn't tell you the exact date without looking at a calendar; but I'll know within a couple days give or take. Knowing the exact day isn't really the point. The point is more that you give an answer that makes sense.

I was asked that question as a part of post-TIA exam a couple of years ago. I gave the correct date and paused ...... and said 2002. I got the examiner to smile.

Hey, I was picking up a prescription and when they asked for my birthdate, I gave the month and day and then paused for a few seconds. Then I said my birth year. My sister asked why the pause, and it was because my recall had supplied a year seven years later when queried. I knew it was wrong, and waited for the correct year. Still wonder how that happened.

Patriotism has **** all to do with wearing a mask.
Patriotism is the only thing worth giving up freedom for, whether it be by enlisting in an army (which involves surrendering a great deal of freedom) or wearing a mask. Wearing a mask with the bearing of someone who's made that choice becomes a show of patriotism, not weakness. The fact that, in your heart of hearts, you're freakin' terrified need not enter into the discussion.

It's quite clever, really, so nothing to do with Trump or Kushner, let alone Pence. There's a clever hold-out in there.

Instead of trying to create "healthcare plan" by EO, why doesn't he actually come up with a healthcare plan and present it to congress? He's only had 3.5 years.

Since Nixon had a health care plan in the early 70s, the GOP has had 50 years to cobble something together.

President Trump was the big winner in the interview with Chris Wallace. He proved he could take the heat sitting outside for tough questions from Wallace. Lets see Biden get interviewed for an hour even in air conditioning. It would be embarrassing.

You're right, Newt. The most important thing to note about that interview was the outdoor temperature.

Newt remembers how Nixon sweated and Kennedy won, so that's the first thing on his mind. Old folk are like that sometimes : perfect recall of historical episodes and no idea what century they're in nor why.

I named the animals Aslan, Pete, and Greg. Was I supposed to identify species? Damn, guess I'll fail, now.

I had gone... Lyin' RINO Came(l) when I was looking at it, IIRC.

"Beautiful world wars"

No sane person would ever describe the two world wars as beautiful.

Ergo, Trump is insane. Charges of Biden being senile may backfire.

Charges of Biden being senile? Trump Jr had something to say about that... and MeidasTouch had a bit of fun with that.

At 3 pm today I realized it was Monday, but only because someone else mentioned it.

Personally, I frequently forget the specific date and day of the week. Generally speaking, though, I only care about the date when it comes to its relation to things that I need or want to do, and what day of the week only really tends to matter when it comes to whether I go into work or not. Chances are somewhat decent that I would remember for the test, though, by virtue of having had to remember the date that I would be taking the test.

You'd look up the test when you heard of it, I'll be bound. Check out the last five questions specially : word is they're really hard.

Maybe. If I were to look it up something like that myself, though, I'd probably look up what it is, though, and possibly intentionally avoid what the questions actually are. I'd rather have a more accurate assessment in cases like this, after all. Looking at such beforehand would likely skew that for no actually good reason.

I'm trying to ascertain if he's really that deluded, or if he's so far up in the role-playing that he'd say anything to kiss up to Trump.

No, but that's one of the only buzzwords that works on their base, nowadays. As I said a short while ago, some people cling to the symbols of America (flag, anthem, statues, etc.) because that's all they know about it; they don't read books or learn history or founding principles, so their understanding of their own country is simplistic and shallow.

Thank you for the good reviews and comments on my interview with Chris Wallace of @FoxNews. We may have set a record for doing such an interview in the heat. It was 100 degrees, making things very interesting!
