Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 23

Nah, he's not nuts.
President Donald Trump raised the possibility of selling Puerto Rico in 2017 after Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory, former acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke told The New York Times.

"The president’s initial ideas were more of as a businessman, you know," she told the Times. "Can we outsource the electricity? Can we sell the island? You know, or divest of that asset?"

This is the President of the United States.
Yeah, he sounds like a savvy businessman there. It's that old investment adage: Buy high, sell low. Right after it being devastated by a hurricane is the perfect time to sell beachfront real estate. That way a real investor can develop the land and make money, while you get the awesome trillions in losses. Win - Win!

Trump said

"Number are gonna be coming down even if we have to go in and take over cities. We're not supposed to, we're supposed to wait for them to call, but they don't call."

God, he sounds like a whining teenage girl sitting by the phone waiting for some guy she met to call her.

"Biden & Obama stopped the testing, I'm sure you don't want to report it" - Trump tries to blame Obama for problems with testing for Covid-19, which didn't exist until nearly 3 years after he left office. He then falsely suggests the 1918 flu pandemic started in 1917.

He's not referring to Covid 19 but to the swine flue (H1N1) in . In a year (April 2009-April 2010) there was a total of approximately 274,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths compared to 135,000+ in 5 months with Covid 19.

More proof that Trump gets his info from watching FOX. From four days ago:

Obama admin shut down H1N1 testing, complicating Biden's attacks on Trump's coronavirus screening
Public health officials disagreed with Obama CDC's decision

"As an example, we’ve done 45 million tests. If we did half that number, you’d have half the cases, probably around that number. If we did another half of that, you’d have half the numbers. Everyone would be saying we’re doing well on cases"

It might sound ridiculous, but Trump's railing at Fox News and his fawning at OANN oddly reminds me of the Night of the Long Knives.
Doesn't he wish he actually controlled FOX News or OANN so he could tell them exactly what to do, and fire whoever he wanted, and even shut them down if they stepped too far out of line.

He'd love to have his own propaganda TV channel.

I don't have cancer as long as the doctor doesn't test me for it!

And so sayeth the "stable genius".

I thought that was his plan, when he expected to lose in 2016. Start his own TV channel to rival Fox News. TrumpTV! Then things went crazy and he got stuck with a bunch of work instead.

Yes, deceit is the best policy to adopt during a worldwide health crisis where people's lives are on the line... worldwide.

Let's pretend to have lesser cases so the US economy can open back up... as well as other countries (worldwide) opening their borders back up to the US, re-establishing travel and trade... worldwide.

Did I mentioned that this is a worldwide situation?

Has anyone informed the selfish little prick in the oval office that this is a worldwide situation? Or are we all (worldwide) expected to coddle Little Boy Flu and his delusions of grandeur? Are we all (worldwide) expected to sit back and let grandma die because the Orange One needs his daily dose of self-congratulatory wanking?

Pardon my rant, but I'm just so fed up with this useless bag of anal leakage.

As of today, Fivethirtyeight has Trump's overall disapproval at 55.2% and approval at 40.4%.

That 40.4% stays pretty steady which just goes to show that no matter what Trump does, 40.4% of the US population doesn't give a crap.

I don't think that's true. I think many of those 40.4% are caught between a rock and a hard place. Their star pitcher is fumbling the ball and throwing wide, the bases are filling up and it looks like they will lose the game. But they still have to support the team.

Most republicans didn't like Trump, but anything was better than that bitch Hillary. The president doesn't have that much power anyway, so how bad could it be? Now they know.

Trump has them by the balls now. If they don't approve then they aren't real republicans. If they do then they will be accused of being racist, sexist, and Nazi sympathizers. They know they aren't, but what can they do? The alternative is unthinkable - so they grit their teeth, put on a happy face and tick 'approve'.

Plus, offload a bunch of pesky brown people. Win-win-win!

No, everyone would be saying you’re 4x the moron.

I think you're far too generous. But we'll see come November.

That may well be his post-presidential focus, even if it has to be from a jail cell.
