Armitage72 asked if Woolery was the Gong Show host. That was what I was replying to. Barris is quite a piece of work too.

According to Jerry and Elizabeth Marin (who were on the Gong Show), there was no way Chuck was in the CIA. They said he was a very gentle man, wouldn't hurt a fly, and pretty loopy on the whole. I used to like to talk to Jerry and Elizabeth about the Gong Show a lot. Yes, they knew the Unknown Comic without his bag, and yes, they still kept in touch with Gene Gene the Dancing Machine (this was back in early 2000s, probably). The last picture I have of Jerry and Elizabeth was from 2009.

Chuck Barris had one of the funniest statements ever, in talking about when the Gong Show got cancelled. He said something like, "The producers told us we had lost our perspective.*** I don't know, maybe they were right. When we started I was wearing a suit and jacket. By the end, I was wearing a tux with tails, a kilt, a football helmet and a holster with a rubber chicken in it."

***The act that went over the line was apparently the Popsicle Twins

And not even Alex Trebek. At least he's in Mensa and seems to have all ten toes in "At least sane."
 
Several years ago, Pat Sajak was making insane political comments on Twitter, and someone responded by referring to him as the guy who was brought in to host Wheel of Fortune because Chuck Woolery was too intellectual.
It all comes full circle.

But I think police indeed gets some undeserved hate, mainly in the form of generalization. It's just not that simple. There are bad cops. But not all of cops are bad. There are bad policies. But those can be improved. It's possible police in some places needs total reform. But that's different that just saying 'cancel police'.
Simple positions suck. Trump is king of those, sure. But some of his opponents make the same mistakes.

Trump just stated that he's 'getting rave reviews' for commuting Roger Stone's sentence and that the polls showing he's not doing well are 'phony' and 'suppression polls' from the 'fake media'. He also claimed again, falsely, that we're only seeing more cases because of great testing. Once again, he dragged out Peter Strzok and "his lover Page". He uses "lover" in front of Page so often, I suspect he thinks it's her first name. He also just accused those who are concerned about opening schools of wanting to do so because it's 'bad for the country'. He's again claiming that "super radical left cities" like New York and Chicago are burning and if the country was run like them, we wouldn't have a country for very long. He's also lying about the "record jobs" that are being produced. They're not new jobs. They're just old jobs reopening. "If Biden got in, the economy would be destroyed." He's again claiming the "we" (meaning "he") built the greatest economy in the world while ignoring the fact the Biden was VP when that economy recovered from the Great Recession. He basically turned the presser into a campaign ad for himself. Quelle surprise.
 
Trump reads, but he only reads the things that interest him.

He's not interested in the reading the boring daily tasks of presidenting (the daily briefings)... he's only interested in certain aspects of presidenting: Being the boss, being called Mr. President, barking orders, watching his minions run around in a panic fulfilling his every whim... that sort of stuff.

On the other hand, if the daily briefings were all about golf swings, banging porn stars, grabbing kitties, and the art of weaseling your way out of taking responsibility for anything.... then he's your man!

He's threatening to use federal troops on American soil against Americans and impose martial law over cities run by his political enemies.

Friday, try to get into Ivanka's pants. Saturday and Sunday, golf, because he never golfs during the work week, except those times he does.

When Woolery found out I was in Mensa (after I explained it in my intro on Wheel of Fortune), he was literally struck speechless, finally responding with "Oh. OK..." I didn't realize until recently listening to the audio tape that he clearly hated me after that.
