Jeffrey Epstein arrested for child sex trafficking

I disagree with you on both counts. Body language can be revealing.

If it is the case Prince Andrew is lying and did meet Virginia Roberts, it does not make him a paedophile. Being an oversexed skirt-chaser is not illegal.

What's illegal is hardly the only issue here. And if she was manipulated or coerced, as she says she was, it sure as hell is illegal.

Donald Trump has a habit of "not really knowing well" certain people that he has previously claimed to know well. His campaign chairman, his lawyer, etc. etc.

True, but as much as I despise Trump, this is SOP for a lot of politicians and celebs, when somebody they hung out with or were associated with gets in big trouble, they try to pretend they never knew him/her or only meet them briefly.
A lot of people in Hollywood, for instance , are playing the "Harvey Who?" game when it comes to Weinstein.
Problem with Donnie, is,as usual, he is so inept about it.

This is the crux of the matter. I initially stuck up for Prince Andrew but now I am becoming more and more convinced he does know who Virginia Roberts is and did meet her. But why lie about? Why not just shrug and say, yeah I met her once but I deny I slept with her.

Instead, we have had long convoluted - rehearsed - explanations of how he couldn't possibly have even met her. This does make one suspect Prince Andrew also knew perfectly well what Epstein got up to. The question again is why not just say so? Why deny knowing what Epstein was like and then come up with a justification of staying with him for a further four days once you knew he was a convicted sex offender.

I am beginning to wonder if Virginia Roberts is the one telling the truth.

.....

An alternative explanation is that he has had so many sexual encounters with teenage girls that he literally doesn't remember any particular one. It's not like he was trying to be their friend.

I take it for granted that a royal prince, son of the queen, must have some sort of security detail. They can't let him get grabbed off the street or punched out in a bar. I suspect there are official records documenting his whereabouts pretty much every minute of every day. If they supported his claims he would produce them.

The Metropolitan Police won't touch it and Epstein's dead. Ghislaine Maxwell will never be seen again. Case closed.

It is. The police are not interested.

He is currently the subject of multiple civil lawsuits. The police don't have anything to do with those, except that they might be required to produce records and testimony.

And London wasn't only place he operated. Whatever he did in the U.S., particularly New York, could be the subject of other civil actions, and the NYPD might not be so timid about investigating (alleged) crimes.

It's a little early for Prince Andy to do his happy dance.

And the way Andrew said he couldn't sweat - that was weird.

Of course, you know what else can't sweat? Lizards.

Just sayin'....

Can you sue a dead man?

The two guards have been charged. Neither they nor anyone else entered Epstein's cell, according to the indictment.

The allegations are that Thomas and Noel sat at their desk, browsed the internet, and moved around a common area of the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center, but never conducted any rounds that night.

The indictment says that from approximately 10:30 p.m. Aug. 9 until approximately 6:30 the next morning, when Epstein was found dead, the two never checked on him or any other inmate in the jail's special housing unit.

Epstein was in the cell closest to the common area, which meant the guards were approximately 15 feet away, the indictment says.

There are reports this morning that Ghislane Maxwell has been arrested in New Hampshire. [nbcnewyork.com]

Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite and heiress who became a confidante of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and was later accused of involvement in his alleged sexual crimes, has been arrested by the FBI, two senior law enforcement sources tell News 4 New York.

She was arrested in Bedford, New Hampshire around 8:30 a.m. on charges she conspired with Epstein to sexually abuse minors, and is expected to appear in a federal court later today, the sources say.
