Trump says ‘I don’t kid’ when asked whether he was kidding about ordering a testing slowdown.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...e-updates-us/#link-ZMNXQWZJLVFPJDZMX5ISNPYZCA

Remember, this question came up because HIS SUPPORTERS insisted that he was joking when he said that he asked for less testing. THEY were the ones who made the claim, because even they realized how bloody stupid it was.

Now he has made it clear, he wasn't joking, and so the conclusion is that it is just that stupid.

Oh, I'm sure they'll come around and now claim that it's actually a good thing to decrease the the amount of testing, just like he claimed.

Interesting that Trump expresses so much admiration for Andrew Jackson. In reading a bit on Andrew Jackson’s administration it seems that history is indeed repeating itself.

After forcing the resignation of the majority of his cabinet in the Petticoat Affair and besmirching their character, Jackson finagled Congress to get Taney appointed to AG to finally defeat the National Bank and dole out favors and contracts to his “pet banks.”

Though failing in his first attempt to get Taney appointed to the Supreme Court, he was successful getting him appointed to Chief Justice after the death of Marshall. Widely considered a political hack appointed to carry water for the pro-slavery, anti-Federalist and pro-Jackson forces. Taney went on to author some of the worst decisions in court history, including Prigg and Strader in which states are forced to comply with other states and federal Fugitive Slave Laws), and the worst court decision in American history, Dred Scott (in which it was ruled that freed slaves retained no rights as citizens, and that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional because the federal government had no authority over states right to keep people enslaved.) He served on the court for 28 years, the second longest tenure in history.

One wonders what barbarity can happen when Barr is elevated to SCOTUS.

 But I really doubt Trump knows the history of Jackson.

Just came from a thread on a friend's Facebook page where one such idiot was arguing essentially that.

Numerous people arrested in D.C. for the disgraceful vandalism, in Lafayette Park, of the magnificent Statue of Andrew Jackson, in addition to the exterior defacing of St. John’s Church across the street. 10 years in prison under the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act. Beware!

He still thinks TV ratings are the most important thing ever.

Not gonna happen. He's simply builiding his excuse for losing. After he loses, he will spend the next four years (if he lives that long) claiming the election was rigged, and probably run again in 2024.

I don’t understand how that will work.
He will claim that millions of invalid votes were counted and that if they were removed from the totals, he would be president. But, he is prepared to accept the millions of invalid votes and step down. And of course, Mr “Anything you can do, I can do better” would, when pressed for evidence, say “of course I could prove it, I could provide the best evidence, perfect evidence. And I could provide it by the end of the week. But I just don’t want to.”

ETA
Ah, it just came to me. I was working on the assumption that his followers would see how illogical and corrupt those statements are and then turn away from him. That’s not going to happen. It will not be logic that turns his supporters away.

I think what he's been trying to say, in his own incompetent way, is that we're doing better at controlling the virus than other countries and we have a lower rate of infection than any other country, but those other countries are doing a lot less testing than we are, so it lets them conceal how heavily infected they are and obscures how great we are.
It's complete BS, with no facts to back it up, but I think that's where he's going.

Yes. I can see that.
After all this is the guy who said
THE PRESIDENT: And, you know, when you say “per capita,” there’s many per capitas. It’s, like, per capita relative to what? But you can look at just about any category, and we’re really at the top, meaning positive on a per capita basis, too. They’ve done a great job.

Cases up only because of our big number testing. Mortality rate way down!!!

Hogan Gidley will be leaving the White House on July 1 and heading over to my campaign to be the National Press Secretary. He is a strong, loyal and trusted member of the team that I know will do an outstanding job! We must WIN this election! Follow him at

He doesn't. Odds are Miller and Bannon, who more likely do know the history of Jackson, told Trump that he was the greatest president in US history and Trump was like "okay, that's good enough for me".

In prison less than a day after being arrested? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. Local holding facilities maybe, but certainly not prison as he means it. But he has to present his LAW AND ORDER image.
