I can actually see some jokes about the COvid Pandemic..black humor is a perfectly good
way of coping....but your jokes should clealry be jokes, and they should be funny. If Trump was attempitng a joke, he failed miserably at both.

Yes. I strongly agree . We will see CORONA jokes.

But no matter how funny those jokes are, they should never, never, never be told by a president in front of a live mike.

And less importantly, they should never been told by a president who is both verbally inept and humor-challenged.

Okay, I searched the transcript for "glass" and got this stream of consciousness:

The President of the United States. God help us said:
I see we have a little glass of water. Where the hell did this water come from? Where did it come from? I look down at my tie because I’ve done it. I’ve taken water and it spills down onto your tie, doesn’t look good for a long time and frankly, the tie is never the same.

This makes me think of Striker’s drinking problem in Airplane.

But was there a limit on the number of tickets? I thought that they were just issuing as many tickets as were asked for, and whoever couldn’t fit into the venue would be treated as overspill, with an extra speech and screens to watch. In that case, it wouldn’t prevent anyone who wanted a ticket in order to attend from getting a ticket and turning up.

And presumably if people had turned up but been unable to get in because access to the metal detectors had somehow been blocked, there would have been a nice big overspill crowd for Trump to point to.

That's awesome. The small crowd size was the paper cut. Giving Trump such high expectations and then crushing them was the lemon juice. Well done. The best part is that the whole point of the rally was to cheer Trump up (according to aids). Now, he's sure to be more miserable than ever.

What was it, Free fallin'?

No, though given the state of Trump's campaign it would have been an appropriate choice. Someone laughably chose "Won't Back Down". That's ironic for a guy who put his tail between his legs and ran to the bunker during the protests.

Even by the standards of Trump that speech (address? talk? dribble?) plumbed new depths.

I now think that one of the flimsiest candidates of all time, Biden, will now win. Yes, his rusted on supporters lapped it up, but surely, this time, enough sane Americans will toss him into the dust bin of history.

Bringing up Idiocracy reminds me of a comment I saw recently.

President Comacho, when faced with a national crisis, responded by getting the smartest, most competent person he could find and put him in charge of solving it.

If anyone wants to see it here is footage of Trump drinking water with one hand, and being cheered for it.

...and it still looks like it's causing him discomfort.

I'm at a loss for words. That was... I just saw the President of the United States get cheered by his adoring fans for drinking a glass of water. What...

November can't come fast enough.

But if you heard that they sold a million tickets? Even if only 10% showed up, that's a hundred thousand people milling around outside an arena that can fit less than one-fifth that number. No way are you going to get last-minute drop-in attendees with numbers like that floating around in the news.

And then, when 99% of those ticket sales are fakes, they're left with a half-full venue, and egg on their face. The optics of this are terrible, and it forces Trump et al. into even more stupid lies to cover it up.

It's worth bearing in mind that the source of the million tickets factoid is the Trump campaign. If they say 1m, then that probably means 100,000.

Or less, considering that they set up for a crowd of 60,000.

"I look better than them. Much more handsome. Got better hair than they do. I got nicer properties, I got nicer houses, I got nicer apartment, I got nicer everything."

Trump speech comparing himself to the "elite."

Seems like desperate flailing for excuses. On the other hand if it is true that implies some seriously organized opposition and does not bode well for his campaign.

It's not Trump or his campaign that are saying this. They're saying that people were scared away by protesters blocking the metal detectors.
